The Pacific has been surprisingly bad. If they get better goaltending they can compete. If they were in the Metro or Central no way.

Can they contend? Yes.

Will they make it? No.

They would have to get ahead of Ottawa, Detroit and probably Florida for one of the two spots in the Atlantic (assuming Montreal is a given) and I don't like their chances with the goaltending. You'll need above average goaltending to get in and we don't have it atm. They'll make it fun and interesting though.

I don't necessarily disagree. Our goaltending is certainly a question mark. That said, how many teams really have above-average goaltending?

Agree.

On one hand they've already played the Eastern Conference Champions 4 times. On the other hand the goaltending situation won't be strong enough even against lesser teams of the long haul.

Goaltending really hasn't been that bad as of late, The MTL game skewed the numbers a little bit, but lately both Leenus and Ocho Cinco have been doing fine IMO. Enough for us to win.

Tampa has good goalies, Florida has Luongo, there's 2 tough ones to have to leap over

If you cannot sell over 1,000 tickets to your own fans, you should not be aloud to make the playoffs(Panthers) lol

Let's see them crack hockey .500 first.

There are good reasons why the Sabres get a pat on the head for being 7-8 while all the other teams in the East with similar records (outside of NJ) get a "WTF is wrong with this team?" reaction.

Also, switch the 8th place Devils and the 9th place Lightning, and you more or less get the exact mix of teams you might have expected would make the playoffs already in position. The only real anomaly is CBJ being so bad. Everyone else is pretty much where you'd expect them to be 5 months from now.

Detroit- Mrazek 2.07 .938, Howard 2.07 .932
Ottawa- Anderson 3.12 .907, Hammond 2.56 .926
Florida- Luongo 2.36 .928

Detroit and Florida have better. Ottawa isn't quite there but it's better than Johnson and Ullmark.

First press conference with him, some reporter asked him how to pronounce it. He got kinda pissy and said:

'It's "Lenner" ' (phonetic).

This is kind of interesting.

In the East(west isn't much better), only 6 teams are actually above 500....win/loss only....and 2 of those 6 only by 1 game.

Junk points in OT/SO does skew how good some teams really are.

At least 5 teams in the East have 3 or more pts from losses, it's a little deceiving because you many glance at points and say, ok, they're doing well, then you look at win/loss and they're 2 games under 500
