This team does remind me a tad of 05 06. They always seem to start out less than stellar but there hasnt been any time this year where i believed they couldnt come back from a deficit. I think we have a great group of leaders in 90, 12, and possibly 4. Not to mention the coaching seems to be top notch.

Thats for sure its scary to think what we could do when eichel starts clicking.
Ive been watching Reinharts game very closely and the whole "seems to be in the right place at the right time" holds true and its exactly why i love his game. Even before the media mentioned about oreilly mentoring reinhart, i could see that both of them have an eerily similar game. The one thing i could think he could improve is wall battles, but he is developing quite nicely.

yeah, he's made some huge strides this season...has come along much farther and much faster than I thought he would...which is a great thing

He leads us in points, ice time (forwards)

I'd say he's leading just fine

Maybe not in Colorado . But here In Buffalo he really is turning into one. Maybe he just did not see that as his role in Colorado.

doing well on the ice doesnt always mean youre a good leader. lots of very good players that arent natural leaders and oreilly is one of them. certainly cares more about himself then the team which is a big reason why hes no longer in colorado

Who vs. Whom

If it is the subject of a sentence, the person doing the action, then use who. If it is the object of the verb, or the object of a preposition, the person that the action/verb of the sentence is affecting then use whom.

Easy way to tell, if you can substitute he or she then use who. If you can substitute him or her, then use whom.

Or just change it to which, which I see you have just done.

Can you tell us his demeanor in the dressing room? On the ice, on road trips? Dan Bylsma says he spends a half hour after practice with Reinhart on his shot and it has improved it a lot. I'll hang up and listen.

That's funny. Every interview pre and post game ROR comes across as a stand up charachter guy who leads by example, first guy on last guy off the ice everyday at practice working with Reinhart and others, in everyone's ears on the bench motivating and giving advice, showcasing his on and off the ice work ethic..

But yea I guess you're right. Doesn't sound like much of a leader...

yeah hes the kind of player that misses the start of a season to continue playing in the khl because he thinks hes worth more money. then his next negotiation he holds out again because he thinks hes worth more than anyone else on the team. doesnt sound like a guy i want leading my team

The fact that he's leading us in points and face offs taken/won as well as high up in most statistical categories doesn't match up with him being a leader either..

Gotcha, you had no idea if he was a leader, you were just bitter that he stood for getting the contract that he believed he was worth. Some might see sticking to your beliefs as, ahem, what a leader does.

missing the start of a season to holdout is not what a leader does. what kind of example does that set for other players?

Johnson: Habs legends outspoken on how to make NHL better

For the iconic Lafleur, there is an equipment issue, yes, but also a philosophical and developmental one.

“First: Instead of talking about increasing the goal size they should decrease the size of the goaltenders’ equipment. But also, it’s the type of game played now. That’s why you don’t see more goals. They get to the red line and they dump it in. It’s a chasing game — all the time. When they have the puck, they get rid of it. Instead of entering the zone and trying to make a play.

“It seems like that’s a lot easier for everybody. For me, as an ex-player, it’s a boring game. You don’t see the pure talent of the individual because they aren’t willing to exploit it. They’re stuck in a system. Most of the teams in the league — with a few exceptions — all look alike............

“The game today lacks creativity. That’s what you need. That’s what people want.”

“But you don’t see the Gilbert Perreaults anymore. You don’t see the Keith Tkachuks or the Rick Tocchets, Pat Verbeeks, either, the guys who play a big, strong, tough game and also score 30, 35, 40 goals every year. That’s why I have so much respect for Ovechkin. Five-six body checks — good body checks — every night, always involved and still scores 45 to 50 goals a year. Amazing. He deserves a lot of respect, this guy.”

lets not make this about who is winning the trade because i never said anything about that. All i said is oreilly is a good player but not a good leader and I am sticking by that. I dont care about how many points he has or that hes leading them in faceoffs because that really doesnt have to do with being a good leader. Theres a reason Kane isnt even wearing in A in chicago.

I like how you chose to ignore the other, more relevant points I made as to why O'Reilly HAS been a great leader for the team.
