Going to the game tonight hoping that Flyers will show up and play for 60 minutes.
May be it's too much to ask for? |

@missingmike...you should see a good effort. They're playing a team above them in the standings |

The Islanders enter this game coming off a strong overall stretch of hockey as they defeated the New York Islanders 2-1 via shootout last Wednesday
I thought the Flyers were the only team that could beat themselves |

I wonder if they expect Luke Schenn to return before two weeks is up, or if it was just easier to retro Gagner to the IR? Obviously since Gagner has been out already for more than a week, he can be activated immediately the need arises. However if Schenn went on IR, he'd have to miss a week before being eligible |

Who knows for sure if thats why they did it, but that would be my guess. Out of their two options it just made sense to put Gagner on IR |

That was my thought, also. But they already announced LSchenn is out for two weeks, which would take him out till after Christmas. |

Thanks Bill. As soon as we start hitting a winning groove, players start coming off of the IR. Then the team drops back into old bad habits. Coincidence?
We have to be concerned about NYI's 4th line. They can send players off the ice very easily. I really don't know why Clutterbutt is still playing, but he is still a player that you have to keep an eye on. Martin seems like a throwback kind of guy; plays hard, and hits for the most part cleanly CZ is borderline with his hits. So, maybe it's coaches idea to get a few of the same players back on the IR, and will send them out on the ice against the fourth line...lol.
It will be a tough test for the Flyers tonight, so it will be interesting to see how the team responds to the physical play with Gudas out of the line-up. Gudas may not be the most talented player, however he does bring that edge you need to keep the other team's forwards on alert. |

AMac gets 100% of the D zone starts against that line on the side closest to faceoff for potential pucks in the corner. |

Maybe he could lace 'em up again. We can put him on the 3rd line |

Well we need the scoring. I'd just be happy to have his emotion on the team. Too many times the last few years I see the team sleep walk through games. |

The Islanders don't have a Nilsson, but they do have a Nelson. He'll have to do. |

That's an awfully soft Defense... Maybe AMac can start to earn his money? That would be nice, though he's certainly not the only freeloader on the team this year. |

Manning's got a physical element to his game....otherwise...yeah, not a lot of physical play back there tonight. |

Yup, Manning then Schultz then...
Which is fine, just not going to win a lot of the board battles with bigger bodies, just gotta be quick on skating/passing the puck out of the zone. |

The entire team was flat last game. I seriously doubt that had anything to do with players coming off of IR. |

Yeah. Take Gudas and Schenn out and we're not exactly physically intimidating. It'll be good to get Gudas back.. I thought he's played well of late. |

He does, but he hasn't shown it much. In his prior call-ups, he seemed to play a much more physical style. This year, not so much. |

He said in an interview this morning or yesterday that his contract put immense pressure on his back "when you go from makin league minimum to 5 million, you feel an extra weight on our back when you don't perform the way you want" |
