With regards to "It's the first time the Sharks will face their old bench boss... and considering what went on last season... there has to be a little extra emotion involved", what in your perspective "went on" last season?

I don't 'blame' Mclellan at all. I do think that the issues between the front office and some of the players doomed the team and ultimately the coach himself.

Should have been done after the reverse sweep by LA. That was the poorest handled offseason by a GM in a very long time.

Anyone else think something is wrong with Jumbo?

Ever since he hit his head and could barely skate off without falling he hasn't been the same player. I hope he bounces back, but he looks like he needs some time off to get healthy.

Im just embarassed for the players to be playing for a guy who stripped their captain of the "C".

If any one who should strip a "C" off their captain is the players or the head coach.

I don't know if something's wrong with him but for the last 2-3 weeks he's been playing one of his worst hockey since arriving in SJ, IMO.

Agree. He's one of the longest-tenured GMs in the league by now, and never won anything in the playoffs. Long overdue for a change.

I still see this team as Joe Thornton's team.

Game day thread, awesome. Go Sharks lets not poop the bed two nights in a row. Having Vlasic out should tell DW he needs to move a forward for a depth d man that can play.

Fire PDB too. There is too much talent on the Sharks to be a struggling team.

Yeah he has played pretty poorly lately. A goal last night helps and maybe will give him a much needed boost.

We struggled last year too, nothing new here.

Well.. The sharks look night and day without Vlasic.

Weird to think that we traded his selection in the draft for Kipper.

He's not playing "his" game anymore. He gets the puck on his stick, he almost immediately dishes it off to someone else. He's not creating any room or any offense really.

Overall the Sharks offense finally started playing better in the 3rd against Edmonton. They were skating well and attacking the net which I haven't seen them doing much lately.

You know what is wrong with jumbo Joe? His old, next year will be his last in NHL I bet. If this slides like last year, I wonder when they trade Burns an become the team they were before 06. It's going to be great.

When I first heard Jones had been traded back to the Sharks via Boston, I was pretty bummed about it. Just the thought of our former goalie going on to have success with the Sharks made me a bit nauseous. And that could still end up being the case here... but after that torrid start Jones had to start the year, he's regressed back to being a completely average NHL goaltender. As all things eventually prove, Jones was never as good as his start would indicate nor is he as bad as he's playing at the moment. The truth, as always, lies somewhere in between. I'm just happy knowing he isn't a Lundquvist or Rinne. He had me fooled there for a moment.

It's night and day from when he started the season with us...

Was he just trying extra hard in the beginning?

Is that injury he had nagging him still?

How does he go from getting praise in the media and from us fans to being a huge liability out there every shift?
