As much as I would love to trade for Kindl, I do not think trading Cole is the answer. Trade Daley and his 3.3mil salary if at all possible. although its doubtful Detroit would take either in trade as they would probably prefer to get picks/prospects in exchange.
Maybe a Clendenning for Kindl might work for the Red Wings
D lines looking something like:
Letang / Maata
Kindl / Dumo
Daley / Cole
Lovejoy 7th D

Kindl is a tease. Nice size, good skater, great passer. Low effort player. Poor away from the puck. Doesn't want to play defense.
I don't believe he's any better than the guys the Penguins have. |

So we are in the favourable position of being able to control our own destiny and this upsets you?
And we have far from the worst bottom six in the league. Does anyone look at other teams or just figure since we aren't first we are last? |

He is on waivers so why trade for him. If pens get him then they can try to trade someone else. |

Agree with stackthepads 100%! We don't have the worse D in the league, & I'll bet Ryan could throw together some colourful charts & graphs to prove that!
Our shooting % however - now there's a huge problem!!! Get our shooting % up to league average & watch everyone go silent on our young & thrown together D!
Also, ffs don't put Lovejob on the ice with a (frank)ing EN!!! He is NOT an attacking Dynamo - absolute madness from Sully when you have Tanger, Maatta, Daley & Dumo! No soup for Sully after that decision! |

I understand he is on waivers but it seems like the general thought process for NHL teams is to not take on bigger contracts without shedding salary in turn.
Therefore it is more likely to trade for a player after he clears waivers than to claim him and retain more salary. |

It's the numbers game. We have too many D so trading him for another struggling defenseman is highly unlikely. It would put the Wings in the same spot and they'd have to waive a player again to be at the 23 man roster limit. |

Kindl sucks, i dont need metrics or Corsi stats to tell me that. |

Kindl would be a good fit if he was a right shot dman... But the fact he's not makes we wanna pass on him... |

Lateral move at the very best. Definite pass here. |

According to Ryan Wilson's Corsi and his Fenwick, before the season our bottom 6 was the BEST it has ever been
How's the eye test working out with us on that?
I don't care about Kindl's Hero Chart
If the Wings are waiving him - It's because he sucks
Corsi that....

I still don't think D is what we should be targeting. The question that needs to be asked is do we think our top 6 forwards can break out of their slump. If that answer is yes then we sit tight. If the answer is no, we need to ask if this is a fixable problem with the resources we have this season. If that answer is no, we sell. If not, we need to be targeting top 6 LWs not defensemen. |

In fairness, our bottom 6 was quite good when we had everyone together. Plot-Cullen-Fehr was the best 4th line we had in years. Sprong, Dupuis, and Bennett are now gone from the lineup and we are feeling the effects.
I see your point, but our bottom 6 was much improved from years past and its easy to look past that because of underachieving results. As others have said, the forward roster construction was excellent...its been execution thats been a problem. |

Kindl sucks. I live in toledo so I'm pretty familiar with the Wings. Everyone around here is happy he's on waivers.
RW has probably seen very little of Kindl actually playing, if at all before today. |

Even when they were all together there was no discernible uptick in scoring or defensive aptitude. They might have looked better for a while because they were different, but the results were the same.

Kindl is Detroit fan's less-productive version of Ryan Whitney.
