Carol this reminded me of Donny when he was on Sportsnet West, I think he used to say this all the time "Etem will be wearing Mike Sillinger's old No. 26"

I like Etem's "self-assessment", a guy that size has to get to those hard areas of the ice to score. Seeing is believing!

It will be interesting to see what moves JB makes between now and February 29th. I'm guessing it will tell us a lot about what kind of game plan there is for the current rebuild.

JB did say on the interview during the Tampa game that they plan on having a lot of cap space to go after the free agency market in the summer. Wonder who they are targeting?

Considering that Benning has already admitted he went hard after Lucic last off-season, I would say he is at the top of Benning's list.

Stamko's is getting a lot of press but I don't see why he would want to come here, if he wants to be part of a rebuilding effort it will be with the leafs.
Can't see Kopitar going anywhere but Backes, Boedker, Brouwer I could see being targets.

Ask Vantel...he appears to be JB in disguise

On tonight I like a Van win. Miller and Lou looked god-awful in the game in FLA and I am looking for Markstrom to step up and outshine Lou tonight. Should be familiar territory for Lou here with a 5-1 Van win and Lou finishing the game on the bench...

I personally think Lucic is off the list. LA has made it pretty clear they will be aggresive to resign him...it's a longshot.

Stamkos is a dream within a dream. Ain't gonna happen in any way, shape or form that he lands in Van. Albatross contracts are not what this team needs moving forward. Let him go to TO where they can continue the 60 year rebuild.

If we are in the UFA market I hope JB looks at an impact D...if there are any worth targeting.

Everyone has been questioning this teams direction on the rebuild all season. Remain competitive...chase a playoff spot? All while getting three rookies up to competancy at the nhl level. Or sell off older assets , open up cap and roster space and let the young guys play the hard minutes while we slowly sink to the bottom. I think JB has decided he can move the contracts , bring along more youth , play them the hard minutes and....potentially remain just as competitive.

Some sexiness finally to the lineup. All it took was removing Higgins.

I think Etem is playing with Vey and Virtanen and McCann is with Prust and Dorsett.

Who won't be back next season? (gone sooner or later)

guessing

Higgins
Burrows
Vrbata
Weber
Prust
Cracknell

still not sure about Hamhuis. Can't see him signing here for less than 4 but wouldn't be surprised if he had a better offer from another team. team needs more rhd anyway, but will still be missed.
Bartkowki might be back too.

Wishful thinking perhaps on Burrows leaving this year.
More likely that he moves at TDL next year.

guilty.

I keep hoping with Burrows the production just starts happening. Don't know if he is hurt (avoiding some surgery), playing through recovery, or is close to 100% and just can't find his groove?

I kinda like the position we are all in. We are in contention for both a playoff spot and a lottery pick. I think it's great that the rookies are getting the "pushing for playoff spot in the NHL" experience

Absolutely.
I never got caught up with the anti-benning hysteria myself and am quite pleased with the position of the team at this point.
I think mgmt deserves a pat on the back for the direction they have steered this team, bearing in mind the mess they were inherited.
Hopefully better things to come.

They would do well to buy Burrows out if they can't trade him this season.
