Great blog Carol

I really wish there was some consistency with how Willy deployed his line combinations. Hard to gain chemistry when the Sedins play with Vrbata, Virtanen, Hansen, Burrows, and now Dorsett.

The only players that should be playing with the sedins are Sutter/ Hansen.... then Vrbata when they aren't available.... don't know why he would play Burrows, he hasn't been very offensive lately (missing a lot of shots) would rather them just put a shooter in Vrbata back up there. Dorsett with the Twins made the 1st and 4th lines completely unnoticeable. Dorsett gives our 4th line speed, which Prust and Cracknell don't seem to be going at light speed like dorsett always is, Willie made a big mistake "rewarding dorsett". Made our top line less skilled and our 4th line less gritty. At least Burrows don't muck up the other lines when he moves up. I hope WD just sucks it up and goes:

Dank- Hank- Vrbata
Baertschi-Horvat- Virtanen
Burrows- Vey- Etem
Dorsett- McCann-Cracknell

Thanks for the blog Carol.

I might be in the minority but I found last night's game entertaining at least, can't ask for much more IMO.

The Capitals were clearly the bigger, faster, more talented, better team by far. The first was fairly close but the second and third was like men against boys with the defence the Canucks have got out there.

I would also say anyone under 25 can play with the Sedins too. If you're not trying to win, then try to develop players. The Sedins talk/coach all game long on the bench, who better to listen than JV/JM/Etem

It looked like the dmen were hung out to dry a few times with the Washington fore check. We'd gain possession but their fore check led to some turnovers with our forwards moving too far up the ice, too much of a gap. Trying to cheat and create an offensive opportunity when we haven't even gotten the puck much beyond our goal line.

But yeah, you listed it off, the Caps dominated for so much of the game. If it wasn't for OV missing some shots, they would have been in our dzone even more.

@Thats_Offside
As a team, VAN currently has the 5th worst ChancesFor% since 11-12, behind only the 2012-2015 Sabres and the 2013-2014 Leafs.

@Thats_Offside
Throw the 09-10 Oilers in there, and VAN is the 6th worst team by ChancesFor% in the past decade.

This speaks to the defence; Benning clearly needs to rehaul the defence in the worst way.

The four worst D-men in the NHL by score adjusted scoring chances for percentage are Cody Ceci, Matt Bartkowski, Alex Biega, and Luca Sbisa

If Vancouver takes Weber out of the lineup for Sbisa, there's a good argument to be made that they're dressing 3 of the NHL's 6 worst D-men.

Sbisa, Hamhuis, Bartkowski, Weber, Biega, and Hutton are all in the bottom-30 D league wide for ChancesAgainst/60. Edler is 33rd worst.

@Thats_Offside
And then Tanev is slightly above league average. Bless you, Chris T.

I'm still not sold on Sutter as a line mate, I thought he didn't mesh with them at all when given the chance regardless of him putting up some points. I understand the desire to have a puck pursuit guy with a defensive conscious but IMO just as important is the ability to make a good pass, something neither Dorsett or Sutter excel at IMO.

Conspiracy to get Scott out if the all-star game, Mtl does the league a favor and will get one in return.

Two guys that have passed through waivers for Tinordi? I am not sure I understand the point of the move from Mtl's perspective

I wouldnt mind Scott on the Canucks if we deal Prust at the deadline. Having such a small and young team it be nice to have him to skate around and KO people especially if we play florida again.

Why would you trade Tinordi for two players who are waiver eligible and could be had for FREE. This trade (if true) makes zero sense on the end of MTL

I thought the same thing unless he asked to be moved, he isnt good and wont ever be more than a fringe NHLer.

@TSNBobMcKenzie
ARI-MTL trade call is in works. Tinordi to ARI and return expected to be John Scott and Stefan Elliott.
