Nice write up. If Lehner continues to play well and with Ullmark in the AHL who could come up anytime, what return would the Sabres get for Chad Johnson if he is traded on or before the deadline? He has been very solid this season and could be a valuable asset for a team needing to sure up their goaltending.
Personally I would like to see the Sabres sign him for another year and keep Ullmark in the AHL for one more season. I don't know if that is possible though.

as I mentioned the other day, I truly believe this will be the last year we see the Oilers and Sabres in the bottom-third of the league

Personally I think there should be something in who the rookies are playing with as well. Panarin gets to play with Pat Kane every night, while Eichel has played a great chunk of games wth Gionta and Moulson. Now I am not totally discrediting Panarin because he is good, but I think that should be taken into account.

If a starter for a playoff team goes down it'd heat up the market, but otherwise I totally agree. Better value to just hang on to him.

Im happy with Eichel, but part of me will always wonder what McDavid in an Sabres unit could have been.

The kid will be a very good player, a good player indeed.
But lets be honest here, the first time I seen the goal I thought to myself, 'who was on defense, Peewee players' ?
Some of the worst defense I have seen in quite some time on that play.

This blog makes me think of one word:

I think most of us here are good with it. We wanted McDavid but a lot of people realized the tank was to ensure we got one of them and not have to pick 3rd.

The people who like to compare the two over and over are fans of other teams. Every time a play by Eichel is on NHL.com or Facebook or anywhere the first thousand comments are about how McDavid is better. Honestly, we get it and we agree. But Eichel is still going to be really great and McDavid is about as far away from Jack as can possibly be. They'll always be linked and I wanted McDavid but I like Eich now that he's on my team

Agreed

It's the Connor show for now cause of a triumphant return. But he'll have a few quiet nights and people will come back to earth.
There's zero doubt he's a special player, but saying jack isn't as well would be silly.
18 in 16 games and 20 in 20 I think?? Unreal


We spoke of this before that top end speed is comparable, but there are a few things that Connor possesses that jack doesn't. But that shot of jacks is head and shoulders better than Connors.


As far as standings, I'm leaning that way for sure. But the oilers are desperate need a healthy klefbom and 1 more top 4 guy.

Or, McDaivd is just that good.
