I'm so sick of the Sabres being pushed around on the ice and beatdown on the scoreboard.

Here's why the first Gudas hit/hit attempt against Foligno was not a penalty.

- Hip checks are legal.
- He attempted a hip check.
- When Foligno move to avoid hip check, he extended his own legs.
- Gudas never extended legs and kept same motion through "attempted hit".
- Foligno "Screwed" himself.

*You can debate hip checks as being dirty, blah blah blah.

And Foligno did a great job running his mouth after the game, Its a shame his play on the ice spoke louder than his wasted words.

As a Pens fan I also hate the dirty flyers, but Gudas has been a beat for me in fantasy hockey. He racks up hits, blocked shots and penalty minutes. BEEEEAST

I see the play differently...I won't try to convince you if you won't try to convince me

I had to turn off the game after the Gudas trip on Foligno and the officials had the audacity to give the Flyers a 2 minute power play. That was pure Garbage. I was so mad I wanted to go to Philly and beat the crap out of Gudas!

I'm much calmer now, but wow, I've never been soo mad in a long time watching a sport.

Key takeaways for me:

1. The Sabres have to score on the PP. They need to practice! practice! practice!
2. Lehner? What happened to him the last 2 games?
3. The D need to stand the opposition up at the Blue line. They need to make these guys pay when they come into our zone instead of the other way around here.
4. Justin Bailey! We need him to be a BIG part of the team in the future!

Eff it with all this Stamkos buzz. This is how I would design his contract.

1 - $12MM
2 - $12MM
3 - $10.8MM
4 - $9.72MM
5 - $8.75MM
6 - $7.9MM
7 - $7.15MM

AAV - $9.76MM

The Foligno hit wasn't overly dirty, but it could have been a trip.

Either way, meh. The Sabres have bigger things to worry about, like scoring goals when gift wrapped power plays.

He doesn't sign anything under 10 per, IMO, likely 10.5+

Then I say no thanks. That is the contract I would offer. I structure it so he gets 15-20MM up front.

Otherwise the contract will become a detriment when it is time to sign Eichel, Reinhart, Risto.

Long march to the penalty box for the Flyers last night didn't hurt them at all on the scoreboard.

we've seen this happen many times over the past 8-10 years or so...it's why teams like the flyers will do as they please against buffalo

I just think he demands Kane/Toews money. It's been 2 years basically since they signed it (by time Free Agency hits this season), cap has gone up a bit, and he's THE big superstar out there looking for a payday this year.

As I very recently learned, this kind of front loading is not possible any longer. I'm concerned for two reasons with Stamkos: (A) I worry he uses us as a stalking horse, ala Babcock, and (B) while he is still producing at a great level, he isn't the same since the broken leg. I wonder whether it will continue to affect his production, at an ever greater extent, as he grows older over the term of the multi-multi-year contract it will take to sign him.

"Front loading" is possible if:
You only decrease the salary by 10% from the previous year.
You don't go below half of the highest salary.

I think I have that correct.
