Another excellent blog Carol, thank you.

Do you have an anticipated date for the big tree to land in Vancouver?

The only other thing I've heard is that visa issues are still in play. Guessing maybe a few days - maybe longer?

Another great blog Carol, thanks.
Hoping that Lucic stays in LA, he's a diminishing asset, not what we need in Vancouver at this point.

Well done Carol.

With Weber back in the lineup and Miller in goal we will be back in bottom 5 territory in no time...

Vancouver should be able to work out the details and get 6-foot-7 defence prospect Nikita Tryamkin signed this week, although it’s been a challenge.
The 21-year-old’s KHL season ended on Thursday. Theoretically, his contract doesn’t expire until May 1st, but if he’s willing not to be paid over the final weeks, his club team will release him.
For the Canucks, they’ve got various cap complications emanating from the decisions surounding whether to put Brandon Sutter and/or Alex Edler on long-term injured reserve, thus creating the space to sign Tryamkin and pursue other transactions. The inability to move various UFAs-in-waiting like Dan Hamhuis last week didn’t ease the situation.
Assuming Tryamkin can get signed, the next challenge may be to see if goalie prospect Thatcher Demko is ready to leave Boston College after his junior season. Usually, teams can use the ability to “burn” the first year of an entry level contract as an inducement, but the Canucks may not have the cap flexiblity to do that.
If that’s the case, and Demko chooses to stay at school for his senior season, the 20-year-old San Diego native could be an unrestricted free agent in August 2017.
It’s that tricky situation Nashville is facing right now with Harvard winger Jimmy Vesey and Calgary is facing with Providence centre Mark Jankowski. The Predators, in fact, went out of their way to make it known they didn’t make moves at the deadline specifically to let Vesey know there’s a spot in their NHL lineup available to him immediately if he chooses to sign at the conclusion of his NCAA season.

Dane Fox traded to Charlotte Checkers for AHL experience.

Vancouver still holds his right and gains a 38 year old veteran for a playoff run.

Not a bad move I guess? Strange, never seen one of these before.

My guess is it will be Loui Eriksson who JB signs. The relationship with the twins and Vrbata's exit it makes sense.

I think it seems pretty normal, unless he is set to return to the Comets the following season. That I think would be strange, though loans are fairly frequent

Could be but I'm not sure he's the guy we need. Good #s this year tho...

Which probably will leave you with Lucic and big $ along with NTC's for either one.

Not sure either one is. We are just getting out of the bad contract mode of the past. Why not enjoy some flexibility for a change, while we continue trying to lower the average players age?

This isn't a dig at WD and I'm glad that he will be back next year but I really hope we are able to keep Green in the fold.

Green has the Comets playing really impressive hockey under tough conditions and it will be a shame if he moves on.

The last two weekends have both been 3 games back to back to back including 2 this past weekend against the leagues best Marlies and the Comets have 10 of 12 points.

All of this after losing their top 3 scorers in Shinkaruk, Gaunce and Zalekski during that run.

Give him another contract with an NHL out clause.

It would be a shame to lose Green, I am not in a rush to fire WD but fully expect he will be fired before his contract ends.

canucks at 44/50 contracts. Jim Benning making room with the Fox trade as he looks at CHL/NCAA free agents.

Very bright future ahead for the Ca-shmucks. With national studs like Virtanen, they could be a force in the league as early as next season!

Key tonight against LA is to make crisp quick passes n avoid mucking it out.
Hard enough to gets shots thru from the point as is but skate like buzz saws n let the kids taste tons of ice time be my plan. Good game for WD to let the roster be creative on O but with a hard back check not ignored. Lets see a glimpse of our speed n skill n what happens.
