For the most part, it has been easy to like this squad after the last two years, but last night was an exception to the rule.

We look like a completely different team without Jack on the ice. I think he matters that much where even his absence turns us into last years team again with little improvement. |

not a very good game at all...as mentioned, there haven't been that many this season, which is a good thing |

There's no doubt that losing Eichel hurt, but it was also their 3rd game in 4 nights. Bad combination all around. They looked dead from the start. |

Us Oilers been hearing that clunk for decades! We`ll pick 1st overall for another decade and still suck! Oilers = Pathetic - cdjaakkola
yeah...that said, your fortunes will be changing soon...Chiarelli isn't exactly MacTavish or Tambellini and mclellan's a much better coach than the last half-dozen or so y'all have suffered through |

am thinking that risto's workload has been getting to him...started a month or so ago and lately he's been in the penalty box a lot |

Yeah those games happen to even better teams. It's all about how you bounce back. |

Teams are starting to game plan against him. Now that there's enough tape on him, it seems as if opponents are identifying a weakness or weaknesses in his game and exploiting them. Hopefully that can be remedied by experience. |

yeah...one thing I did like about his game last night was on the powerplay...in eichel's absence, risto skated it up ice and got the puck deep in the Toronto zone where the sabres could get it and set up...
maybe it's best we keep reminding ourselves that he's still only 21 yrs. old |

Reading all of these expansion draft scenarios, I had a thought of a worst case scenario. Imagine the rules end up being as advantageous as some speculate. The Sabres and other teams get legit talent they planned to build around plucked for Vegas, and that team wins the cup in its first season. That would be a disaster. |

whoa...easy there, pardner...there will be talent available, but not anything close to that amount of talent |

I just read(red, wread) on nbcsn.com that they could force teams to expose a % of their salary base in order to prevent 30 teams from just exposing their Coliacovo's |

On that note, I don't understand why that 1st PP unit insists on the drop pass. Both Eichel and Risto are more than capable of carrying it in and setting it up. Seems like it would be far more effective. |

not sure, but buffalo's not the only one than does it...my guess is that it gets the puck into the hands of their best puck-carrier with a full head of steam going up ice...but it looks like it fails more than succeeds |

what might be more important is the cut-off point for the youngins (two or three years professional experience) and/or nm/ntc provisions...
when it comes to salary, don't forget the sabres have Moulson's contract and plenty of cap room to sign an exorbitant salary or two to hedge that |

So, Oliver Finlay got fired in his first year with the Swords...after buying a 975,000 home that overlooks Delaware Ave. I thought I was having a bad day... |
