I dont think Nelson deserves the same negatiive spotlight shone upon him as does Strome & Bailey. Or did you mean Nielsen? What about Kulimen or Lee? If Anders isnt in front of the net , he's all but invisible too.

Regardless, this team has somehow compensated for inferior coaching all season long. There is obviously a good amount of talent. Shame it's being squandered yet another year. If I were an NHL coach, I would be eager to get the job with the isles....the right staff could do a lot with this team.

I agree that Nelson should not be thrown in with Bailey and Strome. Lee has picked up his game, but is still having an off year. Kuli has not been good like last year. Cappy is very late in the game with being tough on guys regardless. He must really be feeling the heat for the first time ever.

Nice work to the Islanders organization for supporting Maya and family. Here's to her... cheering from above.

Bailey, for one, was not surprised to have his coach’s comments relayed to him. With one goal, five assists and a minus-7 rating over the previous 18 games, the 26-year-old who was taken by the Isles in the first round of the 2008 draft was aware of his situation.

“I don’t need him to say it for me to know it,” Bailey said. “I think I know what needs to be done. I think I’ve been here a long time. I’m confident I’ve played some of my best hockey in the playoffs and down the stretches. It’s not like that’s the reason. I think I want to be better in any way, shape or form.”

Bailey did rebuke the idea that he needs to work harder, saying, “I don’t know about that.” He added that he tries to focus on the little things away from the puck when the points aren’t coming.

“I think I go out every game and try to skate and work and backcheck hard,” he said. “Those are easy things to go out and do. You don’t really have to think about those. You just go out and work. When thing maybe aren’t going great, you rely on those things to maybe get you out of whatever situation you may be in.”

I'm glad he called them out. Cappy's been nothing more than an excuse and propaganda machine for his underachieving players all year. Injuries, the ice, the position of the moon in the sky. His team's tanking was always the result of some outside force or something out of the team's control, according to Cappy. Now, he's finally calling out some of the underperformers.

That being said, this also reeks of desperation on the part of Cappy. Clearly, he has no idea how to get his players to get their collective sh*t together, Maybe, just maybe, he's feeling some heat from above?
