This past season Postma should of started in the Ahl and would of been a good leader for that team. Other than that all you have to do is look at the Vanek goal to show why he is never trusted. Out of position and gets caught flat footed as well as gets caught watching the puck a lot. He did have some good games but he will be an ahler. I really never understood why the jets signed him this past summer to a 2 year contract. At the time I would of played Harrison over Postma and Pardy.

I know there were lapses but he does other things quite well. But a team employing Mark Stuart for his minutes should not be second guessing Postma IMO.

Postma is not strong enough in his own end to be an NHL Defenceman, like the guy but it's not even close. Watched him for the Moose and he strugles in his own end for them as well

Postma is like a winger playing D.

Melchiori is big Stu.

No future on the Jets for either of these guys.

If you read the article on another site, about Chiarot. Postma - Chiarot was a very good pairing. I hope he becomes our 3rd RD. They were statistically our 2nd best pairing although a very small sample size would be nice to see them try that pairing again. 140+ points in 217 AHL games is pretty good.

I know the article and it makes some good points about the two- the bigger problem is I doubt the coaches see it that way and... I don't think Maurice trusts either to balance minutes. Also what happens when Enstrom and Myers come back?

Well our defensive pairings should be:

Trouba - Buff Enstrom - Myers Chiarot/Morrisey - Postma

But i just can't see them not giving Stu ice time, which is mind numbing. And i do agree that Maurice does't seem to have faith in Postma, but maybe he earned a bit of that in his 26 game stint.

Any chance the Jets take a run at a UFA like Yandle?

I have an unpopular suggestion that I think could work for the Jets.

We trade Pavelec to Carolina for Hainsey. Both on expiring contracts. Jets need left D, while Carolina needs a stop gap measure to make up for the eventual loss of Cam Ward. Hainsey could provide us with some 3rd pairing insurance as well. Then possible we could go out and sign Reimer. He would make a great compliment to Hellebuyck.

Hmmmm.....when he was a Jet, Hainsey made as many saves in most games as Pavvy did. LOL
I don't think that bringing him back would be popular with the fans.
Pavvy to Calgary for whatever they will give us. They need a goalie, his pal Frolik is already there.

Do you think this trade works:

To Edmonton: Jacob Trouba and 22nd overall pick

To Winnipeg: Darnell Nurse and 4th overall pick

I suggested it on the Oilers page.

It doesnt really fix the Oilers problem, Trouba just fills the hole left by Nurse. I donèt think Edmonton will be trading Nurse.

Oilers have all left handed D so it does help them in those terms. I dont mind the trade but think we would have to add to it. I'd love to include Burmi but not sure they'd go for it

Thinking about this more,
Trouba, 22nd overall, Comrie for nurse and 4th overall
Then, dano, burmi, our 2017, 2nd and 4th to move to 3rd and we can take a bad contract back as well as Columbus has a few

Ross77 - I like the Oiler trade, but I would rather we kept Comrie. With Hamonic no longer on the market, it does change things for both teams.
