It was the kind of post that someone with a crazed face might make.

"The beet is the most intense of vegetables. The radish, admittedly, is more feverish, but the fire of the radish is a cold fire, the fire of discontent not of passion. Tomatoes are lusty enough, yet there runs through tomatoes an undercurrent of frivolity. Beets are deadly serious.

Slavic peoples get their physical characteristics from potatoes, their smoldering inquietude from radishes, their seriousness from beets.

The beet is the melancholy vegetable, the one most willing to suffer. You can't squeeze blood out of a turnip...

The beet is the murderer returned to the scene of the crime. The beet is what happens when the cherry finishes with the carrot. The beet is the ancient ancestor of the autumn moon, bearded, buried, all but fossilized; the dark green sails of the grounded moon-boat stitched with veins of primordial plasma; the kite string that once connected the moon to the Earth now a muddy whisker drilling desperately for rubies.”

carryover from last blog Re Yakupov

Pass. Uber pass.

Again, I know it is unpopular, but he and Foligno will be making the same amount most likely next year.

You get a one year trial for him. If he pans out, great, if he doesn't, you lost Foligno, which can be replaced by Fasching, Bailey, etc etc etc.

I don't see how it is a bad move on Buffalo's part at all?

Foligno knows his role and is finally playing it consistently well. He's doing fantastic on the 3rd line next to Larsson and Gionta. That line was consistently one of if not the best lines on this team for the 2nd half of the season. He's got a cheap price tag that will hardly raise more than minimally for the next couple of contracts, if not his career.

Yakupov is a bust winger who has had numerous chances to succeed. He's likened to Derek Roy when Roy simply wouldn't buy into the system. Everyone's favorite phrase, to be fair, he hasn't always had the best linemates and plenty of coaching changes, all of which have had their share of disappointment with him. He doesn't produce nearly enough to be a valuable trade option, and he's only useful in your top 6 and on one of your pp units. He's a massive liability and frankly I wouldn't take him for less than a 3rd round draft pick. He's at the age where his skillset should be showing by now, and he's proven nothing, especially for a 1st overall. He's unreliable, inconsistent and needs to be pushed. Tell me with a straight face that he's the kind of player that Murray wants.

No, Justin Bailey is not a replacement for Marcus Foligno. Their games are extremely far apart. Fasching could maybe develop into a Foligno type of player but that is probably at least one to two seasons out. I see him taking the place of Gionta almost seamlessly. Not to mention Foligno is a LW and Gio/Fasching are RW. Could Girgensons take over for Foligno? Probably. But the team and the player need to get their heads out their asses and figure out what the (frank) type of player he should be.

15 of his 23 points came in the 2nd half of the season, a season in which his contract is expiring. I'm just always afraid of Stafford-itis, especially with someone like Foligno who has always been inconsistent.

If the Foligno from the final 2 months of the season shows up in October we will be in great shape. I keep going back and forth on him because of his inconsistency. It's frustrating. Hopefully he's finally found his groove with 12 and 22.

Any word of a nagging injury that made him play like chit earlier in the season? But then, most of the roster was underachieving early on .
