Thanks Carol, Great work as usual. Really glad to hear that your Russia trip went well.
Trade/Waive Tanev. Too soft, doesn't score, likes grandma's cookies and couldn't even standout on a weak D core in Russia.

Thanks Carol! Glad you had a great time!
It seems kind of strange it took this long for Tanev to get a shooting coach.
The Canucks should have got him one years ago. Is there some kind of PA rules against teams providing players with specialized coaches etc. in the off season? |

I don't think trading Tanev is a great idea, sure he might be a bit soft but this guy is still developing and we don't need all our D to be rough/grit style men. You need a well rounded unit. He's really only in his 3-4th year of his career and we all know Dmen take longer to develop. He eats tons of minutes, moves the puck well and makes safe/smart plays. If he works on his shot he could up his goals/points and is already a leader/mentor in the room, we need more 25-30yr olds on the team - not a bad contract either. Buckle up - 4 more years of this guy. |

I'm not sure that the players are under any contractual restraints during the off season, which makes sense considering how long the season is.
I'm not sure the team is even allowed to provide any services before training camp. |

It might put into question his super-human ability to assess talent. |

He still needs to work on his skating, he has a lot of impressive skills, skating isn't one of them.

He is 10 times the defensive prospect that Forsling is
-canucksdon
From last blog. If Tkachuk is 10 times the defensive prospect then Forsling is. He is probably the best defensive forward in the draft this year. |

Can I play devil's advocate since Vantel ain't here?
Glad to hear Tanev getting the props he deserves. He played really well in the gold metal game. Saying that, does the type of game played at these international tournaments translate well into the type of game played during NHL playoffs?
A lot of differences in the two games even down to physicality of players and how the refs call penalties.
Considering that, expectations for Tanev next season need to be tempered a bit. I say level 6 on the hammer-jerk scale would be appropriate. |

Can't we just look at how the Canucks haven't been able to win the cup with him in our line up during the playoffs and make the correlation that he sucks?
3 assists and 6 hits in 16 playoff games over his career tells the story pretty clearly.
Sbisa who many think is garbage for some unknown reason has 2 pts and 13 hits in only 6 playoff games which is way better. |

His style of game will never get the attention it deserves. If he puts up 20 points a season, block shots. I'd be more then happy to have him on the team till he retires.

Tanev has always struck me as a steady dman. An "unsung" type player in general. Hope he can improve offensively and contribute more to you guys. I am interested in how he does next season after having this shooting coach this summer |

I wouldn't go that far and I wouldn't measure Tanev's contribution in in goals and assists only. The 6 hits is a bit concerning considering NHL playoff hockey is known to be rough and tumble.
Tanev is a solid NHL player but he ain't going to be a star. Dependable Dman. Let's just hope he doesn't get overpaid for what he brings.

Tanev: Canucks best D-man.
McCann: Canucks most valuable prospect.
yet they both continually end up in trade proposals for the likes of Yakupov and Drouin |

^ Wouldn't say Mccann is most valuable prospect, but I definitely would not trade like some other posters here. |

I'm really starting to catch on to the new Odd Couple that CBC is running after the 1st period of each game, the Fascist and the Alcoholic should get their own show. |

McCann and the 5th OA for the 3rd OA?
Flames fans were saying Backlund and 6OA for 3OA yesterday. |

Wennberg and Karlsson would be above McCann in the depth chart not to mention Dubinsky and Jenner, so I can't see that deal making sense for Clb.
I like Backlund but he isn't a #1 C which is what the BJ's need. |
