I don't think I've ever been first for anything online.
I sincerely hope he doesn't hate them, but he's had 2 drafts where he hasn't taken one, and he traded the two in the organization.
I want to like Murray, but he just comes off as a really stubborn GM. He literally seems to only target players he used to like or liked coming out of their draft year.
He mentioned how he loved Kane and O'Reilly when he was in Ottawa, he loved Lehner and needed to get him. He was a key player apparently in getting Ryan to Ottawa, a guy he was familiar with from Anaheim.
Seems very narrow minded. - sbroads24
What else is he supposed to say? "Meh. I guess they're ok, I just mortgaged the future, so, yeah I like them ok, I guess."

Lieuwen probably shouldn't be tendered
It would be nice if they brought back Johnson but not the end of the world

It seems like that should make sense, but for the life of me I can't actually make sense of it. |

I just don't understand all this handwringing and pearl clutching over the prospects that Murray sent out in exchange for O'Reilly, McGinn, Kane, Bogosian Lehner and Legwand.
Every one of those players made a meaningful contribution to the Sabres this year, and each is poised to make more contributions (assuming a re-signed Legwand).
Of all the players and picks we sent the other way, Grigo is the only one that made any contribution - Armia's was negligible - and we have no reason to expect any piece that we gave away will grow more or faster than the prices we acquired. |

Mark me down for a failed attempt to make a joke then and an apology for the failure. |

and even grigo didn't make that much of a contribution...murray traded away some good pieces, but will any individually match up to o'reilly?...or even kane for that matter |

Good teams cycle through bottom six depth all the time, filling the first two lines is really important. You just need to find the right mix in the bottom six |

NO.. everyone wants star power 50 goal scorers on all 4 lines. If they can't produce? trade them for first rounders.

yup...they're building themselves a pretty good core because of those moves |

I think the Sabres should try to trade for Cam Atkinson. 20 goal scorer the last three seasons. He's short but has a reasonable cap hit of 3.5 for two more years and Columbus really needs the cap space and has numerous guys with NMC so they have to give to sign Jones and 3rd overall pick.
Thoughts? |

he'd be great in buffalo, but I think cbj likes what they have in him, especially at $3.5M per year |

True but they will need the cap space to sign Jones and they have a lot of NMC on their roster. I'm sure Jack Johnson will be a candidate to be moved as well but not as many teams would want him. Not sure they'd be willing to move Atikinson but with Pujarvi coming in maybe they can afford it. |

I'd also take a flyer on Rychel if the price was low |

the Clarkson contract is the real problem...get rid of that and they free up over $5M in cap-space |
