So, As The Penguins blow the doors off the Sharks with Speed and Skill, Benning seems to be loading up on Size and Toughness

I wonder what the odds of Pitt and San Jose missing the play-offs next year are? I'd take those bets if the odds are high. these two teams just finished then will both have multiple players in World Cup! Will be exhausted by Christmas.

There's multiple ways to win a Stanley Cup....one recipe doesn't work for everyone, if you care to research the history of its Champions.

Jim Benning must be hard at work on the phones, trying to bring our odds up to 100:1...

Kind of weird they have odds out on next years Stanley Cup favorite before the draft, free agency and the trade deadline. I wouldn't put a lot of stock into it at this point.

Buy out period should be interesting. Not only to see if the Canucks buy out Burrows and Higgins but also to see if a few UFA's come available for cheap.

My biggest take-away from the Cup finals this year is, the importance of team play, playing well defensively, the Penguins always had a ton of skill and depth, they just didn't play well as a team until they got a man behind the bench that made it clear it's his way or the highway….in other words, "this is not a democracy".

My hope for the future is that Jim Benning, Lord help us, can find a way to build that depth and skill over the next three to five years and hand the team over (coaching) to a guy who can push all the right buttons.

Those are just the odds today at this point... Teams will add and subtract and those odds will change

I get that. That is why I wouldn't put any stock in them as they are.

My take is that the Nucks go back to the playoffs next year.

They needed Centre depth and D. Check. Youth will improve.

Question: Would you give up that #5 pick + to grab Malkin? What would you give up from the team to get that done?

Honestly, even if they restarted the entire playoffs, whatre the odds either SJ or PITT makes the finals? Anyone taking the current odds on Pittsburgh winning next year is buying way too high, come September it will be a more reasonable 14 or 16/1 odds IMO

There's a difference between a tyrant and a person of authority. Scotty Bowman is a prime example of someone who set boundaries, made players believe in themselves and the "system" they were employing.

Torts is just a small man who breaks you down but never builds you back up….if you can't see the difference, you're blind!

Everything changed for the Pens when Bonino arrived on the scene. Smart trade.

At this juncture of the franchise, not a chance! Malkin is a great player, his accomplishments and his numbers speak for themselves. 129 points in 124 playoff games and 760 points in 644 games says he's pretty damn effective!

Malkin turns 30 on July 31st, his best days are behind him and he does get injured a lot. If you're going to throw 10 million at a center, you throw it at Stamkos, who's four years younger.

ya whatever….everything changed when Mike Sullivan came on board. Boner sucked the first half of the year, his play stepped up when Malkin got hurt in January and they put him between Haglin and Kessel.

He was great for them in the playoffs though!
