Enjoy the draft, Paul. Lord knows CBJ fans aren't going to. |

I'm not sure I understand this management team's approach to building a roster anymore. They are simply too stuck in one frame of mind and not drafting for skill, but instead a mold they are looking for. That never works out. |

You guys will regret not taking Puljuljarvi for a long time. And your GM sounds ridiculous and I wish they prevented him from speaking publicly |

This has to be the most mind boggling decision I have ever seen. If for whatever reason you had that you wanted Dubois instead of Puljuljarvi (which is insane) you could have traded down got great assets and still got Dubois. You probably could have gotten a good prospect and two seconds from Calgary and still drafted the guy you wanted. Most idiotic decision I can remember a GM doing.
To also trade Rychel for a bag of pucks (5-6 defenseman)....mind boggling.
I feel for you CBJ fans, you must be screaming right now.

It's a pretty monumental mishandling of things. I think it's the worst draft I can remember us having. We were given a gift at the lottery and we chucked the (frank)er away. lol.

Looking at things...I think this season has to start well or Jarmo needs to go before christmas. In his full 3 seasons as GM we've gotten worse each year.

Numbers just don't lie. Imho if we're not in playoff contention at Christmas I'd like to see both Jarmo and JD replaced and let's move in a different direction. I hope things aren't like that and we're having a great season, but I'm not optimistic at this point.

What bothers me the most is that in a post draft interview , Jarmo said he doesn't mind having Dubois going back to juniors for development. So he's indicating to me that having an immediate impact center is not a priority , on those grounds , he could of drafted Puuljarvi then via trade acquire a center to reinforce the depth.
At some point he has to use the draft to get his agenda going, see what Holland did , now he doesn't have to deal with Datsyuks cap hit anymore, why couldn't he have traded Hartnell or Foligno with the 3rd overall or heck the master move would of been getting rid of Clarkson.
Now as you said , I have to watch this team implode on itself by Christmas |

Alex or Paul,
I don't follow the draft, why is Dubois 'a bust waiting to happen?' Is it the league he plays in? Does he have bad fitness numbers, is he not a good skater or something?
Sorry to ask an OT question, but I am trying to understand all the hatred for the pick. We are loaded with wingers, and need a center. If he is a top ten pick, and the CBJ need him, why not get him even if we have to wait 1-3 years for him?
If we tank this season GMJK won't be around to draft anyone in 2017, so it makes sense he would choose the best player to fill a need on the team. Was Jesse Puljujarvi really the player that would make us a playoff team in the upcoming season? Are there three or four top 3 line players in Cleveland ready for the NHL?
I am not saying GMJK is right or wrong, I am in no position to judge him, but he has made good choices in past drafts, has he blown a gasket this year, or did he see something in Dubois others did not?
Just trying to understand. thanks.

Well I'm no scout nor someone that looks into advanced stats . I'm not happy because I believe Jarmo made the suboptimal choice with the pick that was given, now if they drafted at say 4,5,6 I can understand. So yes Puuljarvi is that much of better prospect then Dubois.
Also , as stated earlier , Jarmo has no problem sending him back to juniors for development , so really, was it that bad if they traded down , they could of gotten rid of a bad contract and then draft either Kelley or Brown , if they missed out on Dubois. I also think it's suspicious he has 45 pets one season , only to jump to 99 the next, there is not a real consistency , to me , this seems like a guy getting hot at the right time.
This is just a draft that was mishandled , and I feel more could of been done.

Dubois would have been a great pick at #4. Its not that he's bad or is destined to become a bust. He might even be a great player, its just that right now as things currently stand, Puljujarvi looks to be the better player/prospect and have a higher upside.
