Correct me if I'm wrong on this one but I keep seeing the expansion draft as a factor in the Pysyk-Kulikov deal. If we're only planning on protecting 3D, couldn't we just lose Kulikov? |

His contract expires at the end of next season, so we could lose him anyway.
I still think they protect 4 D |

Can't understand why people think he's going to Detroit or that they are the front runner. They aren't even close to winning a cup. |

Kulikov is going to be a UFA. So Vegas would have the right to go after him, same as anyone else. This is a way where we can potentially go out and get him again as a UFA without having to protect him from expansion. Pysyk could have been taken for nothing. IMO the 3rd round pick was as much to move up in the draft as get Kulikov. Kulikov is a better player, with worse contract details. With Pysyk we could lose for nothing whereas with Kulikov, even if Vegas took him we could try to negotiate from my understanding.

I like the Glotov pick. Hell of a lottery ticket. If he can translate his lack of size into success in the KHL and eventually NHL, could be a real steal. Overall I think Buffalo did pretty well for themselves.
The Asplund and Pu picks were great, as they were both rated a round higher than selected by a majority of scouting outlets. Once they physically mature, you could have some pretty useful top 6 or 9 forwards here. The rest of them are lottery tickets with a focus on skill as opposed to the Bruins formula of grit for days. I'm surprised we used a 5th rounder on a CHL prospect. Hopefully he develops well or that one's a waste in 2 years. Another quick observation I had is that they snagged a defensive defenseman who has the tools to become probably a Josh Gorges (today), and it's funny because I think 10, 15 years ago, this kid gets taken in the 3rd or 4th round. Shows what the league now perceives as a "good" defenseman. Which is not the Gorges Regehr kind. Sure, talents like Regehr will still be drafted high today, but probably a great shut down guy doesn't go until the middle of the 2nd round.
I like what they did, glad they grabbed the Buffalo kid. Of course, they said they didn't take him because he's from Buffalo. He actually has talent. |

On Pysyk, I liked him, we all liked him, but trades happen. Just watching the trade coverage this weekend you see so many well known NHL names were drafted by different clubs. And I don't mean the trades were a disaster like Chara from the Islanders. Sometimes teams have to move guys for various reasons. |

it's Detroit...they're always in the playoffs and are always a couple of moves away from being a contender...stamkos would be a huge move in that direction |

Speak for yourself.
I was never a fan of Mark Pysyk.
He is a 5/6 guy that doesn't skate well, doesn't play physical, doesn't score much. The only thing he did well was make a good outlet pass, which don't get me wrong that's important but the CORSI gods of the world thing Pysyk is an all star in waiting. He is not. You don't win in this league with Mark Pysyk playing a 3-4 role.
For a former first rounder I expected more from him. |

I can make a case for just about every team for Stamkos. Including Detroit. |

That team is lost in the middle and aren't close to a cup, can't see why people keep thinking he's going there. |

People are freaking (Matthew Coller) THat Pysyk was traded because of advanced stats say he is really go.
My question to them - Was Pysyk really good at playing defense clearing the crease and getting into the dirty areas.
No?
Oh so he must have been a point producing, power play running specialist of a d-man then? |
