Agreed Carol, Shipachyov would be a great signing. Granlund may not be too happy |

Thanks Carol.
Please no to Hudler. He is not the droid we are looking for. |

I think everyone would be way more into the ruskie than Hudler. |

Creating competition at center ice, a good thing. |

Shipachyov would be great. Granlund would be a solid 13th forward to fill in for injuries.
Hudler... pass...
If they add a forward it should be someone who can grind and be able to move up and down the lineup. If they want a perimeter guy, go for Pirri instead, at least he fits with the model of adding younger players.
If they hadn't signed Loui, then Hudler would make sense, but 1 over 30 sniper is all the roster can support at the moment.
If they want an old, 1 dimensional scorer, who has never back-checked in his life, let's bring Jan Bulis out of retirement. |

Agreed. Hurdler would be like the time Gillis signed Marco Sturm. |

I think this is exactly what Benning's game plan was to begin the initial fix of depth and age gap bridging. Create as much competition as possible and find some hardworking kids to fill the bottom 6 as well as help Green out in Utica. Going to be a fun camp this fall and JV better come prepared or he will go down to play top minutes in AHL. |

Great reference...
I just edited my post to make a Jan Bulis joke, but Sturm is exactly the type of signing this would be. |

VADIM SHIPACHYOV If we got him, that would solve a 2c issue, put him there and Sutter on his wing. |

I wouldn't go that far to say it would solve the problem but it would defintely create some options going forward. |

Whoa , pump the brakes. Let's see him play an actual game before he is appointed the saviour of the top 6. |

60 pts in 54 KHL games. KHL is second only to NHL in terms of talent. If he could put up around 60pts in 82 games in the NHL, i'd say that solved our problem of 2c. |

There is a huge adjustment though, playing style, rink size ect. |

That's why I am not suggesting he wil put up is over 1pt/game here like in the KHL. I'd say by the 10th game(would likely have a couple pts in those games as well) he would be used to it. |

I like the battle for 3rd pair defense spots, and the Rodin/Virtanen competition that's going to happen. A legitimate C to push Granlund for a job would be great.
It's been a long time since this team has had players competing for roster spots in camp. |

I was reading on CDC that Benning was saying the team was going to be playing more defensively this year, with better defensive structure. But now I can't find it on the website
I wonder if this is a philosophy change due to them looking back at their systems last year and the outcome of the year? Regardless, I'm happy to hear this! |

At the end of the day it's a very intriguing option. |

The biggest problem would be, do we have cap space? We would need to clear out Burrows and/or Sbisa to make room cap wise. |

Probably because they will only have one line that can score with consistency. |

Willie Desjardins needs to be a better coach and employ a much different system is they hope to improve defensively. Lets hope he does. |
