Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks: Travis Green to Stay in Utica, Other Teams Making Moves It's safe to assume that Travis Green will stay with the Utica Comets next season now that Jared Bednar has been hired as the new head coach of the Colorado Avalanche, and we have a trade and a free-agent signing elsewhere in the NHL today.

Thanks Carol,

I'm stoked we get to keep Green, hopefully he is able to spend the whole year in Utica and no one comes knocking. I'm not sure of the rules now with no compensation but I think NHL teams should be able to make their staff off limits during the season if they so wish.

I agree with Don , I don't like the trade at all for Arizona, but again I don't think Crouse has top 6 potential.

If it was a higher end prospect I think it would make more sense to me.

I could easily see Jooris, Gerbe, Glass and Lindberg in the AHL to start the season so I do think the Rangers could add Pirri without much trouble.

Don't quote me on this but I think I heard Green mention if he started in Utica he would finish there.

That would be good. I find it a little frustrating that the NHL didn't just fix the compensation system instead of scrapping it completely.

Compensating teams for coaches fired is asinine but teams should still compensated for losing coaches that are currently working for them.

I cant see Rick Nash being dealt at this point, maybe TDL or next offseason. Despite his inconsistent play over the past few seasons and his cap hit, I think he would still bring in a decent return in a deal that would bring a quantity of assets back. It would make the forward situation worse IMO

Emelin is the Sbisa of the east coast.

He doesn't have much value because he sucks

Coyotes once again paying imaginary money for imaginary players to reach the Cap floor. I don't understand how they still exist. How anyone thinks they are on the right track is mind boggling. Every year they start at a 20 million dollar disadvantage .

The friggen cap floor. Can you imagine if they actually did spend that 12 mil on real players. Then they actually might get fans into the building.

They remind me a little of both the Oakland Athletics and Tampa Bay Rays, rebuild/retool near the bottom of the standings until you load up on enough cheap/young players, go for it one year and then restart.

I dont mind using cap space as an asset, but they take it to the next level. They are showing $64m in actual salary, but minus approx $10m for Pronger/Datsyuk/Bolland. So of their $70m cap hit, they are spending $55m, which is basically cap floor

They won't spend to the cap because there is no fan support but there is no fan support because the team sucks. Something is wrong with this picture

The Pirri deal guarantees that Michael Grabner hits the waiver wire again.

What a fall from grace for a once promising rookie.

Probably heads to KHL next.

Does Seattle have a rink? Why weren't they in on the expansion application? All I read was something about wanting a rink and looking for an NBA roomie or something? Can someone fill me in?

They don't remind me at all of those teams. They remind me of a bunch of cheap ass owners that always scream they are poor .

It's gary's baby…they could bleed 40mil/yr for the next 15 years and he will do whatever he can to keep the team in a non-hockey market. It's and ongoing…laughable joke much like Bettman himself.
