Great Blog. I know most hate to hear about being second to the Red Wings in playoff appearances since 1995 as a show of how good the franchise is but it really does show that the Flyers are a good team.
Now to talk out of the other side of my mouth and say it does help that 8 teams make the playoffs from each conference. |

the long term approach and building from within seems great now with the talent pool they have growing but I think they need to find and keep a good coaching team for a long haul too. Hopefully Hak and co are the guys. |

Also teams taking a different approach to long term contract for UFA's & keeping many of their own picks also help |

The Flyers are a elite organization. Anyone who doesn't think this is hating.
People worshipped the Colts and they only won 1 championship back in the 2000s right? With Manning, Wayne, Harrison, and Freeny...that's always the team I bring up when people say YEAH WELL THE FLYERS ' LAST CHAMPIONSHIP WAS LIKE 94 YEARS AGO!

Elite might be going a bit far.
Consistently decent, maybe? |

By the way, Uriah Heep is a seriously underrated band. Heck, I only discovered them earlier this month. |

AHH, love the shot at the Pens, supported by your hand picked numbers. If you do the same argument but say "Since 1990" the Penguins have made the playoffs 21 of 25 seasons, compared to the Flyers 18 for 25. And that's not counting 4 cups vs 0.. and 5 cup finals vs 2. |

As an organization, they absolutely are.
As an on-ice team, I think they are, but I can see where that's debatable. |

If you think about it, you can probably figure it out. Why would the team captain and team president be the reps there? |

Feeling guilty much? You instantly knew which franchise has had two eras of tanking and threatened to move the franchise to ransom a new taxpayer funded arena. I never named names.

Hand picked numbers? He was listing the achievements of the organization since its inception in 1967. If I'm not mistaken, that's the same year the Pens came into the league, so it's a fair comparison. Take off the yellow/black colored glasses and go troll somewhere else! |

The Penguins also drafted 3.5 generational talents in my lifetime - all of which have directly resulted in Stanley Cup Championships - 2 of which were the direct result of tanking (admitted to in the instance of Mario). Keep in mind there's a ton of teams who've never even come as close as a whiff to a generational player.
FYI: The .5 is for Malkin |

Giroux is conceding the captaincy to Gostisbehere?
I don’t know, maybe something to do with the ownership/Ed Snider foundation going forward.
There could be any number of things. A new jersey is the likeliest, but I don't see why that would warrant a hush hush press conference. |

I love how quickly Pens fans melt at any implication that their organization tanked twice. |

Also consider the venue.
