In my opinion, Ristolainen will be a Norris Trophy candidate in the very near future.

I actually agree with Garth. Idk why all these Toronto fans think so low of Risto. Oh wait, yes I do. It's cuz they think Reilly is better. Now that is funny! But there is no point in trying to argue with them or even try and prove your point cuz it's like talking to an 8yr old. "I know you are but what am I" type of maturity level. (Not all of them, but most I've come across sure as hell are)
Risto is a beast. His Corsi wasn't good, but he played on a below average team and with Josh Georges! And Georges is not even close to being a comparable partner with Risto or a #2 dman. I can't wait until he starts to be in the Norris convo. It might not be this season, but within the next 2-3 for sure. |

And Toronto fans; stop trolling Garths posts ffs! Don't you have anything better to do than rip on him and the Sabres? And where do you idiots get off ripping anyone? The Leafs suck and have sucked since... Forever! - Dukey3030
1) If you want to talk with the real Sabres fans, go to the Pachla blog. Most of them are thoroughly embarrassed by Garth and his ridiculous rants.
2) Ristoleinen is a very talented player, but I don't see him being one of the top three D in the league. I don't even see Rielly doing that. Guys like Ekblad, Jones and Hanifin will likely be involved there, but Risto and Rielly won't. And if you want to look further into the numbers, you'll see that Rielly has better PPG, better 5v5 numbers whereas Ristos improvement has coincided with more PP time rather than dramatic improvement in play. |

Yeah. Risto sucks. He'd be a top pair guy on about 28 teams.

No, he wouldn't. If you considerd teams with two better D, you have LA, St Louis, Calgary, Nashville, Tampa, San Jose and arguably Pittsburgh, Florida and Carolina. If you take better RDs then you add Karlsson, OEL, Byfuglien, McDonagh, Hamonic, Tanev, Weber (for now), Jones etc.
Risto is an excellent young player, but there's more quality players ahead of him in the league than you seem to realise.

He is only 21 so lots of upside. he keeps progressing and will be up there by 23-24
Plus he has that look about him

I think that him and Rielly will get up into the same echelon as guys like Barrie and Shattenkirk - top quality offense, average D. Sure-fire first liners, but just short of elite. - lumlums
Agreed |
