This was posted on TSN yesterday and there were like 90 pretty randy replies that as a Kings fan gave me quite a chuckle.
Thus, this morning I read the Ducks' hometown paper, the Orange County Register where Burke's response was in the middle of an article on a range of topics.
Burke said his first take is that this is a language issue (which I do not know if I buy frankly) because Burke said he told both Ilya and Jiggy that they were #1 netminders and he would try to move one of them.
This is a far stretch from Ilya's take that he is "the guy" and no one "wants" Jiggy.
Being from Southern California, I get to hear the local press for the Quackers/Kings more than others, what you heard from Quackerland when Ilya had success in the playoffs was what a jokester Ilya was, how he didn't feel any pressure from the playoffs, etc.
He was said to be hilarious and a jokester. In other words, English was not an issue IMO. Therefore, I have to question what Ilya was thinking because I am not willing to write this off as a language thing. |

I don't speak Russian, so I can't comment on whether the translation was accurate and reported in the proper context.
I do know, however, that many European players shoot from the hip with the home press much more readily than they do here.
Bryzgalov is hardly known as the quiet, keep-it-to-yourself type anyway. |

Comments like those can sure lead to a crappy dressing room atmosphere. However, as a fan it is great to hear some guy tell it like it is. He is just stating the truth as he sees it, and too bad if the other guy doesnt like it.....

The Ducks better not put all of there hope on Bryzgalov. He is a young and unproven goalie who yes, had a great series against a tired, old, and slow Avalanche team (also he should thank Neidermeyer and the O) and got schooled by an oppurtunistic Edmonton team which he went 0-4 against. Giguere won the game the ducks won. I would hold on to Giggy because obviously Bryz is not a mature team player. He should be decent some day though but he needs to watch his mouth. |

Unfortunately for the Ducks I would rather have Bryz as my number 1, but now I am not sure I would want a guy like that in the dressing room. Doesn't seem like a professional way to conduct yourself. On the other hand, I have no idea how he is with the other players, and he could be a very good team player. |

Good take, bro. Maybe that cool, calm demeanor the media commented on in the playoffs is turning out to be ARROGANCE!
While true Jiggy's reliability fell off a cliff after getting paid, he's always appeared to be a class-guy. No team can afford the under-current this could cause in the room. Ilya may have just talked himself into the #2 job, if not out of town altogether... His lower salary could be his saving grace!
At any rate, like you, as a Kings fan, we have our own worries in goal...(Cloutier)!

Part of me wants to laugh, the other part feels sorry for you. Clouthier has consistently won 30 games in the regular season, and the Kings blueline is improved. Might be reason for optimism. |

What are you, his boyfriend??!
If he works out, GREAT! I'm always optimistic about the Kings. My comment eluded to the fact that when he was signed, there were some promising 'other' goaltenders in play (who didn't have a history of letting in soft goals...)
Like Bryz, your take showed no class! |

Sorry for trying to look on the bright side for you. I am a Flames fan, therefore I probably hate Clouthier as much as anyone in the league. How quickly I went to feeling sorry for you to complete pleasure that you have a crap goaltender. Enjoy the upcomming poop season in LALA land, Richard! |

I wasn't trying to be classless, even as I re-read my post I don't see any lack of class, just me trying to point out that Clouthier may work out well. Can you explain to me how my take showed no class? |

explain yourself, please. I am beginning to think you don't have any class and you have issues! How does me trying to point out the brightside compensate my class??? I apologize to you or any Kings fans that I offended, I'm sorry. |

What about Kipper and Vokoun!? Ok it wasn't much of a fight really, and I think Vokoun had the upper end in that one. First of all it is unlikely for tenders to go at it, but two Euros!

I was at that game, and sure I will give you the goalie fight, but the rest of the brawl didn't look so good from a Preds' standpoint. Definately an exciting finish to a poor game from a Flames' standpoint. I will always remember that game. |

I can't see why anyone would want to keep bryz over Gigeure, as many times is Grapes is completley wrong he is also right sometimes and bryz got on a good run for two rounds in the playoffs and got cocky, in game three when cbc caught him laughing at the beef hitting the ice it was clear to see he was in way over his head and thats why the oil lit him up,as for Giguere he is a decent #1 and he is definatley the better of the 2 in Anahiem |
