Bill Meltzer: Gameday Preview: Flyers vs. Coyotes - bmeltzer
So Flyers have a history (or what feels like it) of losing games on big retirement and honor nights. 0-1 this season (Mr. Snider's banner night). Honoring ALL of them in one night? Flyers might get shutout 22-0 with a 12 goal outburst by Luke Schenn. |

Did we trade that bum Mason for third liners, spare parts, and late round picks yet? |

Two of the more valuable points this season. After tonight, they don't need the two points quite as much. |

So I just found out about this hockey MBA program and I think it is amazing that it was started by Brian Burke. Was thinking about an MBA...no one will notice if its a hockey MBA right? |

Not understanding Kulikovv hit not warranting a suspension....I thought standard set with Weise hit as well....This is what frustrates me about NHL...I'm for player safety...but there is no consistency. |

You mean "bad goalie" mason? haha
Really would like to see them start the game as if they cared about getting the points. Not a good idea to get down 3 again and come back. |

I hadn't posted about this yet due to sheer frustration. I have zero idea why there wasn't at least a hearing? It looked very similar to hits that have been punished. All I can come up with is that Jake wasn't hurt and came back to score the SO winner. Is that the main criteria now? |

I think it has to do with "principal point of contact" being the head or not. I thought it was on both, but I havent watched it enough |

If you're in a sales meeting, and you blame a poor sales quarter on lack of 5v5 puck possession, you might get noticed. |

Yes, sorry that is the other part of it and easily the most frustrating. Things will never change if they base punishment on injury |

I don't think things will change until they stop putting ex-players directly in charge of the DoPS. |

Bc it was a good hard hit. Weise clearly made more head contact |

It is very rare that there's a hearing without a suspension that follows -- can only think of one instance where that was the case (and that happened after the player who got hit said right after a game it was accidental and he was just as much responsible). Usually, the hearing is basically a formality. The soon-to-be suspended player gives his side and is then suspended. |

While it is possible that Schultz could remain the odd man out against Arizona, it is also possible that Andrew MacDonald could sit out.
I would like to see the pairings change whoever plays:
Ghost-Streit
Provorov-Manning
Schultz/MacDonald-Gudas |

A good hard hit where he charged, left his feet and made head contact. If Voracek had been concussed, they would have suspended. (Actually, Holzer was not injured,e either). |

Both guys are struggling defensively. I'd think Hakstol would stay away from considering this right now.
