I was banned from the NHL after a terrible misunderstanding at the Canadian border in 1981. I was coming back from a long night at Maxine's in Fort Erie with Bobby Mongrain and Val James. Those two were able to hire lawyers who kept the whole thing quiet but I wound up taking the fall and got banned from the League for life.
