Really? Dowd is sitting? You gotta sit Nolan out of that bunch. But I guess Cliff, Andy and Dowd dont play the right side. Just hurts to see the more talented of the group sitting. Or the most creative rather. |

I'm curious how many happened before versus after his injury. Hitting more after could suggest his hands are not quite back yet. Though that shootout goal the other night was right on target. |

agreed, not sure why you want to shelve the 26/23 combo...with 70 on that line, that's a good amount of speed and tenacity with some scoring touch. do the advanced stats suggest 21 is playing well? haven't really seen it thus far... |

It's a pet peeve of mine when players who hit a lot of posts are described as "snake-bitten" and "unlucky." Hitting the post and having the puck stay out doesn't mean that you're unlucky. It means that your aim was off. Repeatedly making such an off-target shot is not going to eventually go your way. If you do eventually score, even if the puck got a piece of the pipe before going in, it doesn't mean that you were lucky. It means that you corrected your aim, shooting a bit more inward to the center of the net than you had been.
Kopitar's aim is off and his "luck" won't change until he realizes it and corrects that aim. Giving him the ultimate benefit of the doubt (that he's just unlucky and snake-bitten) does him no favors, just denies the issue and doesn't help improve the results. I'm sure that he's smart enough that he'll realize that he needs to dial his shots in a bit more and not shoot for the extreme edges of the goal frame so much, so he doesn't need to be criticized, but he doesn't need to be excused, either. |

What an articulate, intelligent response. Why put education and debate skill to good use when you can just laugh in someone's face with a couple of emojis and walk away, believing that you're the one who came out looking smarter? Genius... |

No, you're right. Anze Kopitar's problem is that he clearly sucks. |

Very true. And Lewis on the top line is a joke. |

I guess AK doesn't have that "next gear" Kings' management was hoping he'd get to with the captaincy. He is what he is. Just wish he would drive to the F'in net instead passing to the point 80% of the time. |

Lewis getting those extra minutes is proving well right now though. So you gotta go with whats hot. And hes making plays and doing the same things we love at the same time. Nobody else is doing enough to make them move Lewis down. LA is weak on the right side so its not surprising that we see Lewis up there. Its not the first time either. |

Ultimately it's the same result as when Brown is missing the side of a barn: no goal. |

Its a shame Sutter rather dress Greene over Gilbert. And boy oh boy does Muzzin continue to just look lazy. |

Not only has Jeff carter found the back of the net, but he is now providing the honesty this team needs to hear....
Jeff Carter, on the second period:
It was just terrible hockey. We come on a seven-game road trip, 1-0 after the first. 2-0. We get a bad bounce and then we just […] shut down. It’s been going on for a while. Our second periods have not been good and they’ve been killing us. It’s everybody. It’s top to bottom. It’s unacceptable.
You don’t make playoffs winning at home and then going on the road and [messing] the bed.
Carter, on whether the breakdowns were “mental” mistakes:
We’re fragile. We’re a fragile team. You get one bad bounce against you…You know, they’ve got good players over there. They’re going to have shifts in our end. We get running around. We lose coverage. They score one goal. We’re up 2-1. 2-1 on the road is pretty good and then we just crumble, and we’ve been doing it all year. Home, away, everywhere. It’s time we take a big look in the mirror here because these next six games are pretty crucial to our year.
Carter, on where the team goes from here:
We’ve got to get to work tomorrow. I’m sure there will be some video. There’s lots to clean up, top to bottom, all the way through. There’s nothing else we can do but go to work. Good practice tomorrow, go into Detroit and get on board in this road trip. That’s all there is to it. |

True, but I would rather see them putting a guy with more offensive upside like Pearson or Toffoli on the top line. But the Kings are fine on the right side, its the left they are weak offensively. Pearson is the only LW that has any offensive ability for the top 2 lines. Gaborik is a solid LW but is a natural RW. Last year I liked the line of Gabori/Kopi/Pearson. It had speed and they seemed to click before Gaborik I believe got hurt and they had to juggle the lines. Right now though, I don't know what will work with the way this team is playing.

I've been thinking this exact thing. Play Gilbert and sit Greene. |

Those said guys arent producing right now though. Hence Lewis getting the ice time. |

I, too, am puzzled that Gilbert is scratched so much, but Greene wasn't the problem last night. Muzzin, as you alluded to, was a -4 and his pairing was the only minus pairing on the night. It's not that he was worse or "lazier" than usual, though, IMO. He always plays like that. It's just that he wasn't getting bailed out, largely because Budaj was bad last night, as well. |
