Buddy, what planet do you live on? Since taking over, the GM has drafted Keller, traded up for Chychrun, and traded for DeAngelo. He also smartly picked up Holland and signed Vbrata.

So what's your point here? Chayka: nothing but good things. He doesn't decide who gets what ice time.

If Tippett was as good as our Willie D you'd be in third last instead of second last

Seriously though, building takes time Tanner, have some patience....the kids will get their ice in due time.

how many shot attempts = a goal?

- Garnie

OK so I looked into this a little bit. There are roughly 5 shots per 9 shot attempts.

In the modern NHL 9 goals go in for every 100 shots.

This means you score .09 goals for every shot taken.

.09 x 5 shots from 9 attempts = .45 goals per 9 shot attempts.

.45/9 = 0.05

So for every shot attempt you make, you score .05 goals.

1 / .05 = 20

Therefore, you score a goal once every twenty attempts at a shot.

The math here is all mine, and I'm not exactly a math whiz, so if someone can show this to be wrong and give me a better way to come up with this answer, I'd be super happy and not all offended.

I'm all about patience, but I don't see how playing a 35 and a 40 year old on your power-play when you're losing anyways is good for the development of players.

Confidence gets built from success. These guys already earned their way to the NHL, so why not put them in positions to succeed? No one is saying match them up against Crosby - if anything that's what they should be using their old guys for , sacrifice against the best players. At least at home.

Why does he have to have hoodwinded people in order to make a good pickup? I mean, it's not like he acquired a superstar, but he picked up a useful player. There is at least the potential that Holland is more than he has seemed and that Chayka identified something no one else saw. At worst, it's a move with zero risk.

Good enough for me.

Thanks

Just trying to formulate what a player has to make up if they gaffe a lot and seem to be the reason some goals are scored.

Yep Holland was basically free and they have injuries at that position.

Who knows maybe he'll end up being a keeper for them.

Don't forget, if Gardiner makes some errors, you remember them. You're looking for them and they're on the highlights. They don't happen as much as you think. Also keep in mind that for 100% of the time he's on the ice, he's faster and a better passer than almost anyone else.

I usually watch the games pretty intensely and rewind / pause etc.

I know when it's Jakes fault or if it's a forwards fault because of bad positioning etc ( usually not always )

I'm a little more lenient on Jake then you think...I think you rank him a little high myself. I wouldn't trade him nor do I think he'd be a guy I'd play against Ovie / Sid etc.

Perfect 2nd pairing guy IMO and that's what he seems to get in icetime right now.
