Ben Case: The Sky is Not Falling-Canes Recent Struggles and Lack Back on IR As most Canes fans know, the last two-games for the Canes have not gone according to plan. Going into New Year’s Eve against Tampa, the Canes were six points out of the final wildcard spot with three-games in hand to Philadelphia. Unfortunately, despite putting forth good efforts the Canes came up on the losing side against Tampa and again last night against New Jersey. Thus, the Canes still sit six points behind Philadelphia and have two games in hand now.

He has shown some good offensive capabilities in the WHL and AHL-seems that he was subject to a deep STL offense and I read that he also needed more development. The Canes have so many young and capable offensive players, it'll be interesting if he can find a spot in the line-up or provide more consistent offense.

Interesting fact is that the Canes are first in the NHL with games played by guys under 22 with 798:

Hanafin showed no effort last night on the empty netter. Unwilling to use his body to block the shot. Was at the game which was sparsely attended and typical New Jersey, get a 1 goal lead and trap the neutral zone. Boring to watch. I went for tickets on Monday and the box office was closed. Was there with 4 other parties looking to buy tickets. This organization is not acting like an organization that has long term plans for the Raleigh area.

In regards to going to the box office on Monday BBQ Hockey (won't let me quote). It was the day after New Years, plenty of business were closed that day, it's not entirely shocking that the box office was. Their hours are 10-6 on Mondays for future reference, but like any business not named McDonalds, holidays are more than likely to effect those hours.

In terms of the Rattie pick up I'm really looking forward to seeing how he fits in. He's an RFA at the end of the year, so worst case we could qualify him and expose him in the expansion draft. Feel it's another solid low-risk, high-reward type move done by Francis.
