Bill do you feel G and or possibly Ghost are still feeling the effects from summer hip/abdominal surgery?
Giroux has no power in his stride |

"not unexpected because LA is a stingy team in terms of yielding time and space to make plays"
That makes no sense because you know the Kings are "defensive Juggernauts" as per Team Negative because the Kings are getting owned by the best team in the league. |

I know I was wrong about this the other day but I again think many are sharpening their pitchforks for the Konecny and Ghost scratches prematurely. Hakstol made a point of practicing without lines today. Ghost and Konecny staying on the ice for extra time could easily be 2 younger players putting in extra work to show commitment to their coach. As Bill said, we will see tomorrow who's in the line up. I can't see how Ghost stays out of the line up because he was clearly missed in 3 on 3 and on the power play. Konecny's spark is always missed so I hope he's in for someone, just don't know who that will be. |

Bang on with assessment of the overtime line combo's....benching skill is always tricky when your second pp unit has the likes of Weise and Read on it. In today's NHL that's embarrassing. It falls to the coach to put these kids in positions to succeed. He did not do that yesturday. |

Kids need to play. Mistakes I can live with from the young guys. It's the crap vets do like belly. He turned the puck over the the pk how many times yesterday. If he doesn't sit for konecky I might be done with this coach. I almost am now. |

That 3v3 lineup Hak put out there had the feeling of a manager using his worst reliever in extra innings against the middle of the lineup, so he could save his closer for later. |

It helps to have more than one closer in hockey. I wouldn't put Giroux and Voracek out against Kopitar, Carter and Doughty in 3 on 3 OT. |

That is a pretty great analogy..
No reason for Weise or Manning to ever see time in OT.
Less of a problem seeing Schenn but not with those two.
Just a horrible line for 3 vs 3. |

That's actually not a bad idea and pretty bang on, those were some very careless turnovers regardless of exhaustion. Unfortunately it's doubtful. Raffl-Giroux-voracek Konecny-couturier-Simmonds read Schenn Weise VV-cousins-lyubimov |

Shouldn't have put Weise and Manning out against them either. |

Have to agree with Bill's point which I didn't consider previously that against a non conference opponent, you should go all out for the win. Probably Provorov and Couturier along with maybe Read would've been a better match up against Kopitar and Carter.

The Kings are a playoff bubble team in the Western Conf. playing without one of the top goaltenders in the sport.
1.76 goals per game over the last 21 games worst in the NHL. "Team Negative" stat. |

I wonder if gostisbehere would benefit from some coaching help or at least watching films of timonen. Kimmo was a small size defender who really knew how to play D without the puck and was effective against bigger forwards. Just a thought |

No, I think it's the best match up the Flyers could offer, and a better choice against that Kings trio, than what Hakstol put out. |

G, Jake and Provy should have been going every other shift in OT.
The other combos should have been a 3 forward combo of Coots, Read and Raffl and the combo of Simmer, Schenn and AMac.
The rest of the roster is either too slow (Streit & Cousins) or too unskilled (everyone else), to ever see the ice during OT |

What does them being a bubble playoff team or not having Quick have to do with them giving up the least amount of shots in the league? That's both cumulative and average per game which clearly indicates they are a solid defensive team.

Not having Ghost creates problems for them in OT.
Also, I don't understand why teams feel the need to always have a defenseman on the ice in OT. There really are no positions, so you're probably better off just icing the three best players. It never mattered that much when Ghost was in the lineup because he's almost like a 3rd forward anyway, but without him they're really thin on the back end. Provorov is really the only one with the skill and skating that stands out. |
