he's only 2 points behind McDavid
who was the last D-man to win the Hart and Norris?

Thanks Carol optimistic title. Though by the sounds of it the last of the fan base has thrown in the towel on the season. How you put it about it not being a wise choice to start Miller. Seems evident of many choices that don't boost this talent and depth challenged team. |

To see a dman with that many points in this era is unreal. Karlsson as well when he is on. fun to watch. |

Agree it's what we need. With Boeser (hopefully) in next year and a complement of Horvat Boeser (Patrick/Hischier) , would be exactly what we need moving forward post Sedins.
Boeser would help next year huge for sure but we need another few high picks. |

I don't trust Boeser's skating at the NHL level, he'll need to do some work over the summer. If we can see the same skating growth we saw from Bo in Boeser then I'm very happy. |

His skating is fine.
Its the 82 game sched & strength conditioning that is needed. |

A change from the usual subjects. It's a fun look at what could be done.
Time for a radical change? How about NHL limit the draft to one round. Have a flat weight lottery. No more draft rounds. Anyone not picked but was eligible is a free agent. One round still allows small market or non popular clubs access to a young prospect most likely to make the NHL. But the access to more prospects improves rebuild odds. Plus teams don't have to wait for years to try to rebuild through the draft. A bigger access and pool of prospects opens up from all sources.
Having so many free agents of quality gives finding gems from good scouting more emphasis. Teams can also fill out depth through youth. Gives development programs to work with and become more relevant. Opportunity to play and develop career has more emphasis for attracting players. The Cap with 50 contract max and limits on rookie contracts will keep things in check for all the differing scale of markets for teams. Vets can be recycled more often if team chooses to go young and cheap. Also doesn't hold teams hostage to mid level talent demands on cumbersome contracts.
It's the only sure fire way for teams to have quick rebuilds by youth. Plus elimate tanking or making it attractive to have years of futility. To attract players teams will strive to be more competitive and successful.
If Canuck Nation likes this type of flexibility then maybe a campaign to the NHL could be in order to change things. |
