Adam Proteau: GMs who look best – and worst – after the NHL trade deadline The dust has settled following the NHL trade deadline, and some GMs look better than others. Which GMs have done well? And which ones deserve questioning? Columnist Adam Proteau offers his answers on both questions.

When asked by Tim Murray, Brian Gionta stated he did not want to get traded. He wants to stay and finish what he started in Buffalo. So Tim Murray honored his request and did not trade him for a second round pick.

Dmitry Kulikov is still hurt and hasn't played well at all this year since the bench door opened on him in Toronto. So teams weren't willing to pay what Murray wanted.

Cody Franson - Anyone who watched 5 minutes of a Sabres game knows that you could not get a bag of pucks for this guy! Enough said there!

If anything he would have netted draft picks. Something the Sabres do not need at this point. They are looking to add a number 2 or 3 top pair defenseman or prospects, which in his presser he said he couldn't get. So did he fail this trade deadline, no I don't think so! I think that Murray will do damage during the draft.

Get's old reading or watching people like you spew crap at Bergevin over nothing. First the Habs aren't big enough...Well they are now and it's scoring and let's be honest the number of Habs on cold streaks right now is insane.

He is correct in saying and thinking this cold streaks will have to end sometime.

As for not making that "huge splash" you all wanted. There has to be a point where you have to say "no" to stupidly high prices of other teams players.

But whatever..keep on keeping on

Murray it seems has done quite a bit of damage already.

And who would you say that Bergevin should have targeted that would have come without losing a key current piece or someone essential to the future of the club (Sergachev for example)?

That's what I was saying...it's like he wants to be the next "engels" and get plucked out of here for TV

Probably right. there are a few on here that believe this is the way to be "found" by the sports networks I think.
Not sure how you add anybody of great worth that will change secondary scoring without giving up something of like value.
Best scoring guy available that moved was Vanek... and he has what... 15 goals... big whoop. A guy like Hanzal maybe, but they wanted a ransom for him. Pass.

I really wish we had Garth here to mitigate the damage Murray has done

I'm no fan of Snow but he looks like Bill Torrey compared to Murray. You guys were praising this guy for the last three years while the rest of the nhl was laughing their arses off.

Edit; did you mean Garth the blogger?
