playing mixey matchy for 10 games will get us thru to the PO's
Jan how do you find the words to write on a Clenedening #9 D man ?
If he is playing we are in desperate mode.....
Mac aint that great when u look at the top 10 D men in lg ..he aint 1 of them
maybe not even a top 15 ..He would benefit from a dominant partner .....
I M O D slumps arent so much individual breakdowns but 5 man breakdowns ....
the way we play not often do you see the D blatantly beat ...
Funny when it does MAc is usually the culprit
last pt: I never give Jan a hard time: I challenge him like anyone of us should
to explain his points and why......Like Clenedening ...stubborn i guess

Klein has been very inconsistent since the hand injury last year and never returned to top form, but that was expected even w/o the injury. We should have gotten a return for him when his stock was high, but the same can be said for Holden. What are we going to do? We all know the defensive trio is this team's Achilles heel. G with Mac only works because G can block shots & MAC is the workhorse that bails him out constantly. Staal is having a better year than last but who are you going to put him with that you can say you are totally confident. It doesn't even matter. We need to rotate Clendenning/Holden/Kempfer as needed |

Jan Levine: Matchmaker, matchmaker, find me a find, catch me a catch..
Title will make sense when you read the blog - airjan23
I'd try these D pairs
Sjkei and Mac (Right side to whoever is more comfy) and play them half the game ala Keith and seabrooke. This strategy is not unheard of
Smith-Girardi
Holden-Klein
Staal need to be the odd man out. Whoever his partner is struggles mightily |

I like this experiment down the stretch. I'm with it. But still, Staal is going to play regardless in the Playoffs.

Dundee, I usually do respond to questions and criticisms. In addition, I rarely play favorites and call it as I see it, using advanced stats when applicable. The one exception was Zucc, who I clamored for when he first came over and then left, which I wa proved to be right.
When McD struggles, I highlight it. When he plays well, similar. The same for everyone. Clendening has shown to have the third best puck moving skills behind McD and Skjei, that has value. It's offset by his D issues, so if you can use him right, why not. That's why I mentioned him here. Plus Holden has regressed from his hot start, so why should that be ignored? There is no clear cut option, it all may be by feel and choice.

Why do you bother with this guy, Jan. Seems like once a month he just tries to get a rise out of you. |

I read his today. I can read it no problem. He's just wrong. The issues with D have come from the guys wearing 4, 5, 8, 18, and 22. They been not great for a while. |
