Svechnikov will be a star in this league. He reminds me of a young Alexander Mogilny. His shootout goal was killer. He'll make Hockeytown proud. Good Luck kid.
Did you see the two pathetic goals Howard let in Tuesday night. Just imagine losing a Stanley Cup Final with that kind of Goaltending. Get rid of the overpaid Bum, he is another Osgood and we saw how bad he could be. not once, but twice. Thank God for Mike Vernon and Dominic Hasek.
Riley Sheahan, what can be said for that waste of lumber that hasn't already been said. He is an embarrassment to the organization and the uniform. I have never seen a big man with all that ice time, skate around in circles, doing absolutely nothing and being so ineffective and insignificant......for over $2M, it boggles the mind.
Tomas Nosak, big man works hard. Puck skills are lacking and he cannot skate well. If you cannot skate well in this league, you will never make it in todays NHL. He needs development.
Nick Jensen, well on his way to be the best DRW offensive defenseman. He definitely has a bright future ahead of him.
Ben Street, unfortunately at 30 he is just a career AHLer. He does not possess the talent for the NHL in any way.
Xavier Oulette, has shown some encouraging talents. He moves well with the puck, but not overly offensive. Needs to improve his defensive skills without the puck. I think he has a future in Detroit.
Dekeyser and Ericsson, vastly overpaid and are remarkable underachievers. Both of which, should be traded to a team in need of a bigger back end, with maybe a good prospect and draft pick package in return. What do we have to lose?
Gus Nyquist, the Wings could get a quality acquisition for Gus NOW while he is worth something. If he repeats his subpar season next year, we are left with nothing to get nothing which accounts for nothing. Move him NOW
Darren Helm, I think is in a very similar situation as Nyquist and several other Red Wing players. Speed is the name of the game for all teams in this league. We have speed on this team, but we desperately require some added scoring. I think Helm would be a valuable commodity for most teams that would provide us with some scoring punch in return.
Drew Miller, I definitely think it's Miller time, don't you. Grand Rapids has more than enough talent to provide a good fourth line checker next season.
Goaltending will be a major decision for the Detroit organization in the offseason. I think the Red Wings Goaltending is even worse than their defensive problems, if that were possible, and it is, believe me. I think a trade for that solution will be Detroit's only salvation. Just look at the Diamond in the Ruff that the Maple Leafs got in Anderssen from Anaheim. Good trades are possible, if Holland remembers how to do them. But does he?
Then there's the Coaching Staff......the Coaching Staff.....that drives me crazy.
Like the Bells.....the Bells.......... that drove Quasimodo aka the Hunchback of Notre-Dame crazy. The entire Coaching Staff starting with Blashill MUST be Fired NOW! It will be so refreshing to see some new faces at the Detroit Red Wings table during this years June Draft. Some new and intelligent direction with authority from behind the bench is sorely lacking.....we miss you Scotty !
Holland says he is staying to complete his contract. OK Kenny !!! Pitter Patter Let's Get at Her.....roll up your sleeves Pal, It's time to really earn your keep.
Let us all hope that this past abysmal season has been but a speed bump on our way back to Success. Only time will tell Kenny. And that Sir, is a commodity you are definitely running out of. Good Luck to you Sir, and I sincerely mean that.

How many rocks did you smoke this morning?
The same Chris Osgood that had 91.8, 93, and 92.6 save percentages in the seasons when he started in the Stanley Cup Finals? Are you criticizing or praising Howard with this statement?
You don't trade players like Nyquist. You won't get a valid replacement and his contract is excellent. Plainly stupid suggestion.
Go back to getting high on your farts. |

Osgood was definitely not in the same category as Howard. He might eventually make the hall of fame. He has the numbers to make it in, just no individual awards but was a Vezina finalist and has a couple of William Jennings.
You also don't trade guys like Nyquist (or tatar), he's 27, his prime years, we still need some mentors for the kids coming up. IMO, his value isn't what is worth is.

Haha. I like the style! I also agree with the others that osgood and Howard are different beasts. Not comparable.
I think one of Tatar or nyquist should be gone. If helm or Ericsson can be moved for decent (or barely decent) returns it should be done.
I like the outside the box thinking regarding goalies. There are so many now that you can get a good one cheap. If mrazek isn't it, there are options...event history shows Marvin jones, Andersen, etc... |
