Cheers Carol.
Just waking up here in NZ and i'm not going through all the pages from the last blog.
How are people feeling about those 2nd round picks?
Any word on Lind??
I see Hague and Ratcliffe were taken right after and i know they were sought after by some here
Agree on DiPietro, nice to have another (hopefully) decent goalie prospect in the ranks. |

I too really like Dipietro, hes about the size of Quick so not concerned. I think at the very least you get a quality back up.
I would have gone:
5. Glass - Or flipped picks with LV if that option was on the table for that 2nd and taken who ever was left.
33rd: Nick Hague
55th: LW Jonah Gadjovich
64th: G Michael DiPietro
95th: Mason Shaw

I really like Lind and I was surprised he wasnt taken in the end of the first. I would have taken Hague myself, most big guys put up poor numbers and he actually can play the PP and move the puck. If he works on his skating he is going to be a steal. I think I would have gone Lind over Ratcliff but again tough call as one played on a good team and one a bad one so the numbers are tough to compare. |

Normally I'd agree taking Hague but Lind was too enticing & next draft is deep on D |

I just think Hague has big potential. I dont hate the LInd pick just would have gone with the Dman as we dont have much doing for us on defense and he plays with an edge. Id really like to start adding some mean to the team and move away from the mostly euro core. |

Benning should have traded down if he was going off the board with his first pick. |

I'm not sure he went too far off the board if McKenzie had him at 7.
I thought we were getting Glass.
(I'm a pound short)
McKenzie had Glass going 8th |

8 by mckenzie , most had him at 5. Picks 3-8 were all basically equal and teams drafted for need with 3,4 leaving teams to take who they thought would best after. |

No joke, I had Pettersson ranked #1 for the past month or so... Just didn't figure the debate posting it would instigate would be worth my time since I honestly couldn't fathom Benning doing a consensus "reach" at this point in his employment. |

Carol Schram: Elias Pettersson, seven others chosen by Vancouver Canucks in 2017 draft
The Vancouver Canucks went for a skilled playmaker when they chose Swedish center Elias Pettersson with the fifth pick at the 2017 NHL draft. - Carol Schram
By the way thanks for the blog Carol, after watching some of those goals this Pettersson kid will be really good for the Canucks for years to come.
Great job by Benning yesterday, now lets get the scoop on the front office shakeup.
Don what's the word from the inside?? |
