the competition at center has quickly become crowded. where do you see Vorobyev slotted at the NHL level if he develops as they hope? 3rd line or 4th line? |

Im not into signing 38 year old ufas for this team. Maybe Hexy has pretty solid plans on Sanheim joining the team at worst by Xmas. Now they have 3 PP dmen in Sanheim, ghost, and provorov. Would Markov be okay with that? Would it make sense to pay 5-6 mil to a dman like Markov if you don't want him blocking your young guns you want on the PP? Probably not |

I think he has top 9 upside. Center is his best position because he is good defensively and a solid playmaker but he could also play wing. |

Bill,
Any chance you can give a little rundown on some of the camp invites? Do any have a legit chance of earning a contract like Myers did? |

Markov will be 39-years old soon. His decline will be sudden and steep.
See: Zhitnik, Kimmo, Streit, Kubina, Malakhov, Hatcher, Rathje, etc.
Maybe he's the exception to the rule, but I'm not signing him to multi-year, $6M/per to find out. |

I am ok with it as long as they can move MacDonald. I think Markov could handle a top pair role with Provorov. A 2 year deal wouldn't be bad as he is still pretty solid.
I wonder if Hextall is quietly trying to move MacDonald before doing anything with Markov? Could they bring Markov in on a camp invite and hope some team loses a defenseman that they cold pawn MacDonald off on. |

The last time a Markov was on the Flyers blueline it worked out tremendously. That fleecing of the Canes back in 2004. |

There is a new coach hired who will run the PP and most likely
we'll see a different look. Either the first or second PP unit could have two defenseman at the point. |

Each player should be judged as an individual. Always some risk in that situation. |

I think Sanheim is far from a lock to make the team, especially at the outset of camp. |

I was starting to worry as it seemed our friend was being a little chipper recently good to see he's back to normal.
I want to stay far away from any vet defense right now as I want Morin, Hagg, Sanheim and maybe Myers to have a battle royal in camp for 2 spots. It's time to start to see what we got in these kids. Will it be risky sure it will but too much more time and I'll start to worry about whether we are being drug along by management about the prospect pool depth. |

Yeah, that trade didn't go so well. They needed Markov and he seemed like the only dman that didn't get hurt in the 04 playoffs but Williams would have been nice to have through his prime years. |

Completely off-topic, but I came across a movie this morning from 1936 called "Reefer Madness." It's an anti-"marihuana" propanganda movie that actually comes with a ridiculously horribly informed disclaimer at the beginning about the effects of this "plague" (insanity, violence, death, hallucinations, etc.). I didn't watch the whole thing, because it's horrible. Has anyone else ever seen this? |

About what? It's a real film that really exists.
Edit: The disclaimer describes it as an "unspeakable scourge", not a "plague." |

I've heard of it even though it came out well before I was born. Never saw it, though. |

I know it exists. Just thought maybe you were joking about just finding out about it.
Jeff Sessions bases his entire ethos on that movie. |

Looking at the list of centers (no idea of any of them played wing at all since being drafted or signed by the Flyers) is crazy.
Cole Bardreau
Connor Bunnaman
Radel Fazleev
Morgan Frost
David Kase
Tanner Laczynski
Pascal Laberge
Scott Laughton
Olle Lycksell
Nolan Patrick
Cooper Marody
Danick Martel
German Rubtsov
Anthony Salinitri
Mikhail Vorobyov
the Flyers have Vecchione listed as a RW on the development camp roster. they are very thin on wing, esp RW but I imagine some of the above will possibly end up on wing when/if signed |

No, I don't usually try to find misinformed drug propaganda films from 50 years before I was born. I mainly stick to campy horrors. |
