This article is promising. http://www.thehockeynews....o-install-high-tempo-game
It includes interviews from when he took over the lightning and him saying he wants an up tempo playing style. There's also some scary quotes about wanting structure that he learned from Gretzky and Keenan. Hopefully he's evolved since the .
Overall I am hopeful but I really wish they were able to get someone more forward thinking. All in all Tochett has never been a successful head coach in any league, and his only claim to fame is as an assistant on a stacked squad. Crossing fingers, but it's not who I was hoping for |

Canadian media protects tje players like thenation depends on it, and the American media large
Y ignores it. When big news breaks and it too hard to sweep in under the rug, they report it, but its rare to see it sensationalized.
Having said that, there is a certain culture in the game that that leads to genrally good behavior amongst its players, and I'll explain it you.
90% of crimes or indecent behaviors commited by professional atheletes happen in the off season.
The majority of NHL players offseason in either Europe, where we hear nothing ,or in their home states or provinces,,where they are fairly protected.
The other reason, and I will try to articulate this sensitively, is where on the North American social ladder most Hockey Players come from:
The White,upper middle class.
By no means do I think White, upper middle class makes you a better person, but we are all, to a point, products of our environments.
I have had friends who played good hockey as youths tell me some of the best 13-16 year old players in Canada can be found on the Native reservations. We all know that the potential of Natives is not realized as often as it should, large
Y due to their environment, or inability to adapt when taken out of it. I've heard many times these kids have a hard time leaving home, being stuck in a white billets home, in a locker room full of rich White kids, and having to deal with the racism, and having to fit in with a completely different set of cultural expectations. So they quit.
There are very few inner city hockey programs for Black Youth in Americathat I know of. I'm not sure there is a single Black NHL player who comes from a poor neighborhood, and who's closest friends are gang members.
Hockey is an expensive upper class game, and family reputationsare at stake.I think that mostly leads to lesreckless behavo OVerall. |

Hard for any fan, including yourself, to guage the impact of an assistant Coach. Even if they are in charge of a certain aspect, like special teams, and the aspect has been successful, crediting the said assistant is often times misleading, because they never truly have complete control. |

I don't think Gretzky had anything to hide during that scandal. The media went after him like a pack of Hyenas but there was nothing there. But his wife is quite the gambler apparently. |

Exactly. I meant to quote your post and give a thumbs up.
Was just adding a key (haha) contributing factor for the shenanigans that hockey players get in trouble for. Rich person's drug.

...but also a very private one. Something about Coke that leads to discretionary tactics. Ive heard of house parties where all 30 people are doing blow, yet you never see it because 2 or 3 people still sneak off to a bathroom or locked bedroom at a time to do it. |
