yeah, you're probably right...I was of the $8-9M opinion, but it will probably be higher...then again, the structure of the contract may have something to do with it as well

I mean players need to understand if we give you all this money it's going to be hard to get star players someday to help you

I wish he take a 8.5 contract but I don't see it

I think the most telling thing (nice write-up btw, Pachs) was at the end about Sam having to play out the year to see where things go. I guess the team wants to see more growth out of him, but that can backfire, too. Signing him now would save $$, but if he has a knockout year, he will want bigger bucks later.

I also wonder if they plan on keeping him at wing so it devalues what they think he's worth, rather than playing center where he (arguably) belongs.

No comments about last year's first rounder. Did Nylander not have a good development camp? Also, I am happy that the Sabres are telling Rhino "show me". I think this will motivate him like crazy and he is going to quiet down all the naysayers that want to trade him. Even if it costs us a bit more next summer, I think it's worth it to see what his upside is.

I'm not sure I have tomatoes in the pan on thursday for the party.

yeah, I get that...most prime ufa years anyway...will be 29 coming out of that contract, which still places him in his prime
