Any prospects playing tonight? Has the jr season started regular season play yet?
Eventually I'll look it up and maybe I'll post it for the lazy and disenfranchised. |

When I first read Charlie O'Connor's column about McDonald's injury, I thought he meant Andrew MacDonald...and because I'm a bad person (who should feel bad), I was instantly pleased that it probably meant that all three of Hagg, Sanheim, and Morin would make the team out of camp. |

Yes... games going on now. Will add to the blog either late tonight or early tomorrow. Frost having an excellent game so far, although just one point (a very nice assist on the power play). |

So they have 28 and need to get to 23? Which 5 does everyone predict will be cut? |

Vecchione, Leier, Read, and Sanheim. Not sure about the other forward who gets cut.

If sanheim continues this trend of playing better and better, still think he's cut? |

Yes, the numbers game is still working against him. The fact that he is part of neither power unit, when that is one of his biggest strengths, suggests he is still number 8 on the opening night chart.
However, I also think he'd be the first call up when there is an injury and (if he plays at the level of this week) won't go back down. |

And now, just for poops and giggles, here's the lineup that I think we'll see on opening night, followed by the lineup we see after the trade deadline. This is based on them being on the playoff bubble at the deadline.
Opening night:
Lindblom-Giroux-Voracek
Filppula-Couturier-Konecny
Weal-Patrick-Simmonds
Raffl-Laughton-Lehtera
spares: Weise and Leier
vets waived and sent to LHV: Read
Provorov-Gudas
AMac-Hagg
Morin-Ghost
spare: Manning
Elliott
Neuvirth
after the deadline:
Forwards will be basically the same unless changes are caused by injuries, however I do believe they recall Read for depth once the rosters can be expanded post deadline.
D
Provorov-Gudas
Sanheim-Hagg
Morin-Ghost
spare: AMac
I believe that Manning gets waived or traded during the season and that Myers moves to #8 on the depth chart.
Goalies will be the same unless Neuvirth gets hurt, which sadly is likely. If that happens, and again assuming they are on the playoff bubble, I think a deal will be made to acquire a veteran backup. I don't think they will want to go with Lyon or a coming off a serious injury Stolarz as their backup during the stretch run.

Agreed, but I'm pretty sure he will be a regular in their lineup well before seasons end.

Interestingly, the Flyers official website roster lists every player left in camp....except Robert Hagg. Oversight? Or foreshadowing?
Rubstov is still listed on the roster, but presumably that will change as soon as his paperwork clears. |

NHL dot Com seems to expect Sanheim to make the roster. They have him as a deep Sleeper.

Adam is a good writer, knows his stuff and is someone I consider a friend. However, it's just conjecture. Hexy and Hak share nothing outside their immediate inner circle, including internally. Not a huge deal but you have to just try to write around it and sometimes you end up speculating in the wrong direction.
For example, when I wrote a game preview for Wednesday's split-squad game in Allentown for the Flyers official site, the article deadline was well ahead of the game day roster being made available (to us who work on the website content, as well as for release to the public) even though it was already determined who was playing where and the article was not posted until after the roster was announced. |

Liking the centers, would be great if sanheim and morin are up this year. |

Two of those 28 players are Bardreau and McDonald, so they only have to cut three guys to get down to 23. Most likely Leier, Vecchione and Sanheim.
14 forwards
8 Claude Giroux – 14 Sean Couturier – 93 Jakub Voracek
40 Jordan Weal – 64 Nolan Patrick – 17 Wayne Simmonds
11 Travis Konecny – 51 Valtteri Filppula – 15 Jori Lehterä
12 Michael Raffl – 21 Scott Laughton – 24 Matt Read
54 Oskar Lindblom/ 58 Taylor Leier – 74 Mike Vecchione – 22 Dale Weise
7 defensemen
9 Ivan Provorov – 48 Robert Hägg
50 Sam Morin – 47 Andrew MacDonald
23 Brandon Manning – 53 Shayne Gostisbehere
57 Travis Sanheim – 3 Radko Gudas |
