GARTH'S CORNER: Sabres Cuts - garth
Please explain why he is going to the AHL?
http://www.hockeybuzz.com...lishly-Delightful/6/84322
Guhle has nothing more to prove in major junior. He is an NHL player through and through. He will finish out this season loading buses and getting acquainted with the Amerks way. Then, he will likely spend his summer in Buffalo with with many of the vets and young stars as they work out and train on and off the ice at HARBORCenter and the Academy Of Hockey. Come September, Guhle will be fully and completed prepared to make his non-emergency call up NHL debut.
Guhle will be a key contributor to buffalo's top four D group next season. The kid has the poise, power, precision, production, persistence to be a star at the NHL level. His first pass is blade to blade every time. He skated like a loaded Lamborghini. He has a bomb of a shot and isn't afraid to mix it up |

Man, it's the preseason, it means nothing.

Yes, the two games vs the Leafs did not happen. Two Sabres wins and Garth would have posted three blogs by now. There was much fanfare after the big OT win over the depleted but defending Stanley Cup Champions.
Bailey has shown nothing at the NHL level. He's no longer a kid
By the way. No NHL team will be trade for the washed up Gorges and his 3.9M cap hit. What's next Trading Moulson? Pure fantasy |

Ghoulie reminds of a combination of Doughty, Karlsson, Potvin, Orr, Lidstrom, Coffee, Subban, Blake, Salming, Robinson, Chabot, Weber, Chara, Aki Berg, and a sprinkle of Brian Glennie.

The only coverage we have had in Buffalo regarding those two games came from your media. My take from listening to them is that you have assembled the best hockey team ever and we should all bow to their greatness. That an Maracin had a bad game.

The problem with trades is other teams need to participate. Gorges will sit, barring injury, Guhle will play the full year in Rochester barring mulitple injuries. He'll be good but if he was Drew Doughty + Erik Karlsson he'd already be in the NHL |

We definitely haven't assembled the greatest team ever. But wouldn't you prefer your blogger tell you how the rookies are performing at training camp over this? |

It looks like you just figured out why Sabres fans read the Sabres' blog instead of Garth's blog. Please explain why he is going to the AHL?

That's pretty easy, actually. When Garth wrote that blog back in April 2017, the Sabres' defensemen included Gorges, Franson, Falk, Bogosian, Ristolainen, Kulikov, and McCabe. It did not include Scandella, Beaulieu, and Antipin.

Did Garth say that? I don't usually read anything he writes anymore, but it would not surprise me. I just pop into his comments when the post count gets into double digits to see what everyone is giving him crap about this time because that's far more entertaining that whatever he has written. |

Garth has responded to posts in the past. He would get so much more hits if he actually interacted with the posters. |

True...who would have guessed the Sabres would have added a guy Minny didn't protect in the expansion draft, a guy who was a healthy scratch for the Habs in last year's playoffs and an undrafted KHLer. Why didn't any other GM's think of doing that?
The issue is the constant overhyping of players. Guhle may well turn into a solid NHLer but it is no certainty he will become a top four D man in the NHL. Comparisons to established stars is just silly. He was a second round pick for a reason. There is no guarantee he will "thrive in Rochester" this year. He will no longer be a man playing with boys.
Just let the kid develop in Rochester |

No way can an undrafted player from the KHL be successful in the NHL, The Wild had an abundance of Dmen and were forced to make a trade to ensure they received something for a player they were likely to lose, Just because Montreal doesn't know how to use a certain player within their system doesn't mean that he can't have an upside. I swear sometimes your trolling is so bad it makes my sides hurt from laughing. |

KHL players can be successful, but most are not.
Yes, Wild had a surplus of D men, but Buf picked up 4/5 guy, 13 pt scorer. Now he's the missing piece. He may flourish under Housley, but he'll likely stay the same.
Beaulieu is now 25 years old. A time when players are what they are. He was a healthy scratch last year. So...
Based on the odds, I'd say Scandella is a decent pickup. A RH, second pairing guy on a young team. Antipin is a longshot. Beaulieu could finally live up to his high draft position but more looking at a third pairing guy until younger players are ready
I am sorry if you find reality to be amusing |

Trading Gorges doesn't open a spot for Guhle...Scandella, Beaulieu and McCabe would all still be ahead of him on the left side. (Ristolainen, Bogosian and Antipin on the right-side.)
He'll play the entire year in Rochester...Tennyson, Fedun and Falk are all ahead of him too. |
