Feel bad for Dwight King, but at least his name is on the cup! |

I am not all that shocked by the news that Gravel was sent down. His back slide was large enough to warrant this move.
I think Forbort looks shakier that last season as well. No real surprises in camp other than Fat, Mac and Lee

Laich probably owes Iafallo dinner for extending his career. I imagine that his name might've been on the cut list if it hadn't been for that OT goal the other night. Nolan being taken probably helps his chances of receiving a contract, as well.
I'm not sure what Andreoff and Clifford are still doing around. I think that it's past time to move on and see if others can do more with their spots. I'm not as high on Dowd as others, but seeing him behind those two on the depth chart (if it's at all accurate) is puzzling. I'd like to see what he, Brodzinski, Laich and Iafallo could do with the two spots, rather than eventually get cut so that Andreoff and Clifford can make the team again. |

Not watched many Kings games since their last playoff run...
What happened with Nolan? I thought he was a big part of the success in the past? Maybe I'm thinking of someone else though. |

not really man, he was a plug, he would make some good hits occasionally, fight every so often, pot a goal here and there. great speed, got some mitts and decent set of shots, he just couldn't put all of it together at once let alone sustain good play over a stretch of games. |

agreed on 13 and 15; we've seen what they can do and their limitations. i get that 15 can play W or C but are you really putting him in the middle over 21 or 26 at this point?
i imagine iafallo will start in ontario since he's also waiver exempt like gravel. but i've liked what little i've seen from him this preseason, a solid college ufa signing that fell below the radar.

Agree about Laich, but I don't mind his veteran presence in the bottom 6. Cliff and Andy should be let go for the reasons you mentioned as well; I'd rather see what someone else can give since we know what their ceilings are.
But Dowd has something, and maturity with puck, that not many others, even some of our "stars" has. I've seen him show great poise with the puck, whether its making a tiny move that gets by/through a checker, or holding it for a few seconds longer in order for a lane to develop... having said that, very few of those plays has led to scoring or even chances, but it's still skill that can become something with the right linemates. at least my .02. |

Fair enough... happy to hear Buffalo didn't improve with the pick up |

Feels like Clifford and Andreoff are the last vestiges of the "heavy" Kings teams that used to be so difficult to play against, now that Nolan and King are gone.....and while that style of play is out of vogue these days, it can come back as quickly as a team wins the Cup by grinding again. However, Auger can bring some of that style, and Kempe may end up as a grinder as well....and the bottom lines need to score more than once a month, and maybe score goals that don't bounce off three guys and hit them in the butt before rolling in....
Glad to hear that MacDermid appears to be making progress as well.....Ladue can play in Ontario for a while as can Fantenberg, who may need some time to adjust to the North American game. MacDermid brings an edge that has been sorely missing recently, and while he'll inevitably make some mistakes, I'd rather see that than have the team try to dust off Rob Scuderi or some other "safe" approach.
