Thank you Carol,

Not sure if you heard, but it is being reported that Anton Rodin will be staying an extra week and practicing with the UBC thunderbirds next week.

Thanks. Yes, I just saw that after I published.

Patrick Johnston at The Province thinks that means he'll be put on unconditional waivers and released. Maybe go back to Sweden?

Based on their performances against Vancouver, Vegas Golden Knights > Calgary Flames as well!

That would be disappointing after the report last week that said he was fine with starting in Utica. Maybe he thinks he didn't get put in a position to succeed during the pre-season or should have made the team? I guess we'll see.

Teams can still claim a player on unconditional waivers though can't they?

Yeah. I thought he has played decently.

I guess the fact that he's supposedly sticking around to practice with the Thunderbirds suggests that he's not racing to get back to Europe.

Maybe this has more to do with freeing up a contract spot—for Archibald?

I remember reading reports last year at camp that he signed in Vancouver to basically try to showcase himself and then eventually play for another NHL team. So since that didn't work out, I'd speculate that he asked to be released and is staying in Vancouver so he can hopefully sign with a different NHL team. And if not, goes back to the SHL.

Can't remember the source of the report, but if it's true it seemed like he was never to keen on being a Canuck, it was more about playing in the NHL.

hes had a bit of a chip on his shoulder signing winning the Swedish league MVP a couple seasons ago. I think he thought his success would translate. Can't blame him for being disappointed.

First of all, the obligatory "Thanks Carol".

I am so impressed with these highlight packages.... kicks butt on everyone and everywhere else.

Glad to see Upshaw gone yet get another chance to play. Was it a trade? I mean, he was not "under contract" right?

Do you really think Virtanen was #1 star or do you think that was a little bit of marketing to a crowd that wants to see him succeed?

They just need to add more cast off Canuck players and coaches is all... they are heading down the right path. Once they claim Rodin... and we snag a third 20 goal scorer off them when they waive a player, it will pan out for them.

per Rick Dhaliwal:

Benning has said Holm has been sent to Utica, Rodin on Waivers, Juolevi's next team is currently in discussion.

per Ryan Biech:

It is being reported that Juolevi's best option might be to join Palmu, when Salo is an assistant coach at TPS (SM Liiga)

Benning: Goldobin had an average camp. We like his skill, but he needs to be better in all 3 zones

Benning: Rodin, the hope is that he clears and goes to Utica.

Rodin: If they send me to Utica, I will 100% report there

DAMN! I liked him but not on the 4th line. I wonder how much his health went into the decision.

yes, also, it's too early to say Virtanen has developed well in the AHL. I am not convinced after a solid preseason. Let's see what he does when the competition improves.
- CanuckDon

He played well enough in his rookie season. The question isn't as mysterious as that at all. This isn't his first pro camp like Boeser or anything. Boeser is a bigger question mark when it's presented in that manner.

Benning: The point of Rodin skating with UBC Thunderbirds is because he is waiting on his US visa. Should get it by next Friday.

Good. ELC still good for 3 more years. Tavares is going to be expensive.
