I would rather put Jost in San Antonio for a couple games until a spot on the top 6 opens up. I don't see much good in putting him on the 4th line. |

Im impartial either way. Let him gain NHL experience easing into the line up, either Duchene gets traded, Kerfoot or Yakupov start to slump a bit in top 6 roles.
But if its prolonged more than 8 games with getting 10 mins or ice time. Yeah I would say he goes down until that Top 9 spot is fully open |

People are making too much of the lines and D pairings right now. 5 games from now they could and probably will all be entirely different. Mackinnon started out on the 3rd/4th line too. |

The Nemeth waiver claim is interesting. Colorado has another defenseman for the PK and a player who will help solidify the defensive unit. There is now some fairly good depth percolating in San Antonio. Add to that the recently drafted Makar and Timmons and voile Colorado is building some solid NHL depth defensively.
Why I find the Nemeth pickup interesting is the influence it will have on the Duchene situation. If Nemeth proves to be a solid, contributing member on the defensive top 6 similar to a Barberio pickup last year it will either A. Allow Sakic to simply wait for teams to raise their ante for Duchene and get the haul that he has always envisioned or B. Sakic is willing for the prospects to develop for another year defensively, approach Duchene about an extension and sign number 9 for 2-3 more years keeping intact the offensive core of the team so they can make a run in several years.
Either way this Duchene situation doesn't nearly seem so unmanageable now, in fact I am cautiously optimistic that Sakic will parlay this into an event that will catapult the Avs back into relevance. |

Jost should hopefully be up in the top six soon enough..I hope this kid really makes an impression on this team!..and a great pick up on waivers! If healthy maybe the avalanche can make some noise? And I also hope that duchene comes out of the gate flying! Increase his worth and get that top dman prospect, 1st, and another nice piece to go with the trade!.would you guys do Faulk 1st and tvr? Or something along those lines? |

Hey now, let's not get too excited yet.. Let's wait a few games to see how the team comes out.
Sounds like it could be a great pick up for us. New team and he'll get the minutes. Hopefully that pair works out. Barrie needs a better year. Seems like an ideal partner. He plays best when he has the freedom to join the rush and sneak into plays from the point.
Johnson back for the whole year (biggest reason imo of last years collapse) Varly playing closer to his previous level of play injury free, and the team coming together as an actual team and up to it's offensive potential who knows.

A 28 year old UFA first line center would never sign a 2-3 yr deal. Especially not when the relation to Sakic is shaky. |

Really dont know what their realtionship is like but probably not to the point where they trust one another again with a long term extension.
Duchene situation is no different than Drouin IMO. If the player wants to move on from the Org, you have to play yourself out, Yzerman wasnt going to do Drouin any favours, and neither is Joe, in taking pennies on the dollar on a player they still have team control over.
Neither team wanted to get rid of them, but if the right deal and the fair offer presented themselves they would move on, not going to set the franchise back in "doing right" by the player |

TSN's 31 Bold Predictions....
8. COLORADO - With seemingly little identity or direction for the Avalanche, GM Joe Sakic will step down at the end of another abysmal season. Sakic made marginal changes to the NHL’s worst team of the salary-cap era last season, leaving many to wonder about his long-term vision for the franchise.
