Role reversal. Schultzie out and now Letang must step up on the PP. Let's go pens (and saints!)

Don't be afraid to give a chance to a true puck mover like him.

Think its about time for the Pens to see what they have in some of their minor leaguers. Bengston & Sprong deserve looks on the big team.

I think Rutherford has kind of taken for granted this season that the Pens would easily get into the playoffs and he has until the deadline to make a move. But as of right now they are not in a solid position at all. Just as concerning is they have really been riding Crosby, Letang and Kessel with a lot of minutes.

I expect JR is going to act sooner than later. The big problem is that the guys expected to be sellers this season, NJ, Vegas & Vancouver, are all in the hunt. Not to mention a lot of the teams on the outside still have a good chance of getting in. All but 3 teams in the East and two in the West are within 5 points of the wildcard, with one of them being Edmonton. There will be lots of competition in the market.

Just to be safe, the Penguins should play the backup goalie on Saturday night, and maybe rest Letang and Malkin.

You can't be too careful.

Sprong's been pretty cold lately. He might be ready but isn't necessarily an upgrade over any top 9 winger.... His goals have been on the power play.

Agreed. But at some point I'd like to see if his game elevates when playing with very high skill players in the NHL. Right now, he is the guy who their opponents are keying on. If he is playing on Sid or Malkin's wing they will be able to draw defenders in and get him some space to snipe. Just a thought.

Schultz is playing better, but Letang at his best is the far superior player (though not on the PP).

I continue to wish for Simon to get a chance and Hagelin to get bumped down to the 4th line. Sprong and Bengtsson, if they have things to work on so be it. They're both essentially AHL rookies.

Last year I was all about bringing up Guentzel way before they did. The way he scored was mostly off the rush and going to the net which translated well. Sprong scores alot on PP and offensive zone face offs. I just don't think he'll get the same opportunities and will struggle more.

It's not all doom & gloom (yet ). If we can go .500 or better through the next 4 games we should hopefully stay in touch. Any worse & other results go against us, there may be a gap open up between us & a WC spot.

Need a win today. I'm quietly confident the Pens will be up for it.

I think even with the success he's having with the Nucks, he'd still be swimming around the Ahl if he wasn't traded. He needed that change & Vancouver was the lucky team. It still may even get worse if he continues to develop - a lot worse......

Yeah, i'm just trolling. Some guys just need a change of scenery to realize their potential.

As long as Casey Cizikas doesn't think this is a rugby match, Pens should be good.

I think a large part of it is expectation. The Penguins were playing for the Cup and Vancouver seems like they are waiting for the Sedin contracts to expire.

I don't think Vancouver cares if Pouliot makes a bonehead play leading to a goal against today if he develops into a top 4 offensive defenceman in a couple years.

Pouliot is no longer a Penguin.

Pouliot did not make the best of his chances here.

Can we please stop continuing to bring him up? It's getting annoying very fast.

Simon has only had a handful of games in the NHL, but he honestly looked mediocre. Could he be better now having played more pro hockey? Sure, but I highly doubt he can bring more than Rowney, let alone Hagelin.

And tbh he doesn't look anything special even though he's getting a few points now. Easy fellas.

I happen to like what I see in Ruhwedel. He's a decent 6th D imo.

I'm fine with Ruhwedel as well. I'm not fine with Hunwick.

I really wish they replaced Daley with a damn who brings similar attributes.

Islanders getting away with a lot of pick plays..subtle interference that sometimes is called and sometimes isnt. Reminds me of the late 90s red wings.
