The anticipated meltdown in the event of a Gudbranson trade. Especially when the GM's trying to get extended.

Let's see how that deal works out for ya Jim

Will be an interesting finish

you can't see the forest for the trees but you hang onto that thought because I know you think it gives you something to hang your hat on.

The truth of the matter is they had two first round picks when they traded one for Andersen and they also had the very next pick after the 31st pick which they traded for him.

Not to mention they felt they were ready to compete after rebuilding for a few years.

The same spin again. Why are you telling me who they traded a 1st and two 2nd for? We all know who. Who's hanging their hat?

The Leaf's either don't trade those picks away or they do. You shift from not trading away those picks to claiming they are good trades every time. How do you show us the trees when you spin so hard? I think you just speak before you think when stories like the Sullivan take down piece come out. Not once did you ever admit you were mistaken when repeating that false narrative. You shifted to the concept of the trades. This is why I called it blind envy. Quick to repeat criticisms before rationalising their accuracy.

Well obviously they'd have to make more moves, however, I wasn't advocating they do it, I merely suggested EK put it out there that they'd like to get their hands on them. As most teams quite understandably would.

I thought all along we were talikng hypotheticals since the topic is a EK rumour.

With that being said, even in a hypothetical discussion on trades, you have to keep the cap space rational or there is nothing to talk about.

It's my fault, I said EK suggested the Leafs would like to get their hands on them and all of a sudden it came across like I was saying they should.

I simply said that they'd be a scary good team if they could make that happen.

TY Carol

As far as Sean Avery I would give that idiot a penny for his book but I do understand the curiosity about his train wreck life.

Nilsson should be publicly flogged for that picture . His beautiful wife saved the photo.

Nice legs Goldobin?

TY Carol,

That XMas picture of Goldobin in Bo's photo is disturbing.

You are right, I'll give you that, I said they weren't trading picks like Benning during a rebuild but they actually did trade a late first (31st) to Anaheim.

During 2015 and 2016 they selected 20 times (ten of those in the first three rounds) which means they acquired six more picks during those years when they got lucky and won the lottery. So I'm saying trading the 31st pick when you have the 32nd pick for a starting goaltender is not such a bad idea.

But again, you are right, they did trade a first round pick during a rebuild.

Can't afford to trade Tanev yet.

Makes no sense to have Sedins Sutter Gagner Vanek Eriksson mentor the forwards
and trade Tanev

I still think the Leafs are rebuilding so are the Oilers. Both Ds need serious upgrades. Both teams have a bunch of young forwards but teams like NJ WPG do too.

Andersen has been stupendous for them. 3rd or 4th in Sv% I believe?

I liked the Florida Gudbrandson. Vancouver's Gudbrandson has not done a lot. I did like his start to this year but you have to make a decision and he s not worth 4 mil.

It wasn't Lefty. I read back through the comments. Just people discussing the realistic possibility and complications of the trade. You were the one defending the topic when Makita complained. You are spinning the disagreements.

I agree with this. It was spoke about in the Leafs' thread. Their D gets called out a lot. A huge weakness. What's interesting (to some) is they have the 10th least GA in the league. 21 teams have shipped more goals than them. (Somewhere along those lines)

I don't think any team is rebuilding when they have their core in the NHL, I do think they're still building though, to me they're two different things....but my mind works in mysterious ways.

And yes their defence stinks!

Not worth 4m. I really think JB's scared to trade him because the return will be nowhere near what we gave up for him.

Another thought on this, I prefer when GM's start building from the backend with a plan in mind, like Carolina or Philadelphia are doing.

Now that being said you don't trade down when you get to pick a player like Matthews or McDavid.
