I thought Granlund with the Sedins was a pretty good combo last year. Was surprised with all the line juggling this year that TG hadn't put them together. At this point it can't hurt to see if this line still has any chemistry.

Still, #topfivedraftpick.

I am looking forward to seeing PLD and, of course, Boeser tonight. Do we know who is getting the nod between the pipes?

It's basically looked at as irrelevant in the analytics community because it doesn't account for various situations that skew the numbers. If they had a nerdy emoji, I'd put it at the end.

I went about and read some articles on why analytics people think it's irrelevant. From what I gathered they complained because they couldn't put it into a numbers formula that could give them an answer. Ovi being an amazing goal scorer but didn't have great plus minus. One player, played more then another player. To me they are trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill.

The way I look at plus minus is simple. When 5v5 does that line score more or give up more goals. Who cares about shots. Shots don't win you games.

Two of the biggest what looks to be draft steals from last years draft Connor Timmins and Robert Thomas both 1st and 3rd in plus minus last season in the OHL. Gadjovich was 4th in draft eligible.

Cal Foote and Kole Lind were 1-2 in plus minus for WHL draft eligible.

Plus minus to me is stupid. Plus minus of an entire team tells a bigger story than individual plus minus. For instance, the entire canuck roster being a minus except for tanev says more about the team to me than individual minus or plus numbers.

Edit/add - people who have zero interest in analytics generally dont care about shots and have your "shots dont win hockey games" theory. Analytics see more than just shots for and shots against, it expands to corsi obviously, but scoring chances, posession, etc. Thats why people who dont like analytics see gudbranson and sutter as decent players. Gudbranson being on the ice for 3 shots for and 20 against says more about him as a player than the canucks bring outshot 40 to 20. Etc etc. Not that i am fighting for the analytics community, just stating.

Tanev and Horvat are in the pluses. Sutter, Virtanen, Gaunce, Baertschi at the zero mark. Considering players like Gaunce don't score much, I look at that and think that clearly he's not costing the team either. Kind of what you want in a 4th line plug.

Daniel has 28 points, 15 of them on the PP. He's a -11 so he has been on for 24 goals but only been on for 13 for.

They still have a decent pool if those listed were ever moved too. Mangipaine, kylington, the list goes on. Trevling has done ok, wont have many picks to work with in the near future tho.
