Why not stack two lines and play vanilla hockey with the other two? Trying to make three lines is not possible with all the injuries...

Simon-Sid-Sprong
Hagelin-Malkin-Kessel
Guentzel-Sheahan-Rust
Kuhn-Rowney-Reaves/ZAR

something like that. Or...

Simon-Sid-Guentzel
Hagelin-Malkin-Kessel
Rust-Sheahan-Sprong
Kuhn-Rowney-Reaves/ZAR

2nd lineup lessens Sprong's TOI and gives him 2 defensively responsible guys in Rust and Sheahan.

There may not be many centers available this year, but there are sure a lot of top tier LWers rumored available...

Hoffman, Kane, JvR, Nash, Pacioretty....

I think this may be the route JR ends up going. Going all in on a big name winger, and making a small-ish move for Letestu or Cullen.

So if I'm the Rags GM I want a 1st & at least a player for Nash add in another pick if he resigns (which I doubt happens). So who is up for giving our 1st to the Rags + a player for Nash?

With Geuntzy getting less minutes these days, he may as well play 3C & She-man 4C & pick up a winger instead of the 3C!

If the Canes are imploding, JR go grab The Dr big man, make that deal!

You and your nicknames...

If the Pens go the impact winger route, I’d be totally on board for Jake at 3C.

The wingers that have been mentioned even Grabner, will all cost at least a 1st + a player (& probably even more), maybe Grabner is the cheapest although at a guess pretty close to top goal scorer - which he's doing for a 2nd season for the Rags. JVR is also scoring so they aren't coming cheap especially if what Botts wants for Kane is the mark! Actually, it's (frank)ing ridiculous Botts wanting that much when the other guys are scoring & even playing better than Kane & aren't allergic to their team mates like Kane!

I'd err on the side of caution & find a cheaper option whether by trading for a 3C or lower end player that may click well with the talent on the Pens. Wasn't Skinner getting traded for the past 2 seasons??

It will be interesting to see how Nash plays out. Having a list of teams could affect the return. I’m not saying it will, I’m saying it can.

I would assume that not all 12 teams will have interest. It could realistically only be three or four teams who would make a trade for him.

Now, having a limited amount of teams allows them to affect the price. The Rangers of course could hold on to him instead, but if you have a small group of teams that do not want to move a first, guess what... They ain’t gettin a first.

Yes that's very true. You would think there would be contenders on his list though that probably are prepared to part with a 1st. The Rags could possibly end up with 3 or 4 1st round picks this draft depending how far they are willing to go. I would expect Grabner & Nash to resign with them even if they are traded at the deadline.

Depends on the needs of said contenders. Not all may need a winger.

To the last part, that’s what the rumor is.

Tampa - Going all in but not sure Nash would be wanted
Preds - probably would considering theyre trying to get anyone & everyone but don't have the pick do they?
Blues - need scoring
Vegas - unsure what they will do
Bruins - need scoring from every line not named line 1
Leaves - Nash not required (not sure they wouldn't be on his no trade list)
Peg - Maybe (Again question of no trade list)
Pens - I wouldn't but others would
Montreal - just kidding
Sharks - Need scoring
Caps - Doubt they'd want Nash
Devils - check his trade list
Jackets - check his list but they do need something - more C than wing though
Flyers - Doubt they want him
Kings - Not sure he plays their style but they would want a winger - probably Kane more than Nash
Stars - Maybe but doubtful imo
Wild - Can't see it but you never know??
Ducks - Good chance they would even though he doesn't cheap shot enough
Hawks - I could see a match but not sure they will do the trade as their cupboards are bare & they probably won't make the playoffs.

Bruins are deeper then most people think. Most of their top scorers off the top line either missed time and have lower totals but good point per game rates (Krejci, Backes, Spooner) or are young guys without strong reputations yet (Heinen, DeBrusk). That's 8 forwards playing at at least a 40 point pace. We have 6.

Do you think they would be interested in a rental? I'm not sure they would spend their 1st but who knows. I suppose it's just that their 1st line is so dominent, the rest look shaky.

For a gm that everyone thought was crazy, he's been going pretty good in my opinion - the Barzal miss will haunt him moving forward though!

We probably won't finish near their final points total either if all things continue.

40 is actually conservative though. I think all but one are on pace for 50 and a couple for 60 (if they'd been fully healthy). They have 3 legit scoring lines and are really dominating play.

I've said this before, I don't think Tampa is going anywhere this year. I wouldn't be surprised to see Boston in the ecf (unless we crossover ).

I like the first option you threw out. Sprong, Sid and Simon have been really good together.

It kills me seeing Reaves, Rowney and Kuhnhackl in the lineup. Free Sprong!

Wonder if maybe Sprong isn’t ready for the NHL yet. Probably why he isn’t in the NHL. Rowney’s been playing awesome though.

Protects the puck well, Good on the forecheck, good on the breakout, physical. Played a vital role in winning a Stanley cup. What’s trash about him?
