Sure you can trade Brodie. But trading Hamilton is just plain dumb. And these two should not be mentioned in the same breath. |

Francis really seems to hate Hamilton.
Trading Brodie makes a lot of sense to me and I've been saying all year that he's the guy that we should move, and he should be able to get us what we need. Trading Dougie Hamilton is stupid though and would be the epitome of a panic move. There are very few ways we win a Hamilton trade and you don't just give away one of the best offensive defenseman in the League. |

Who are our top targets for a Brodie trade?
I'd like to have the following in no particular order:
Mark Stone
Mitch Marner
David Pastrnak
Obviously this is pie in the sky and would likely take more then just Brodie but if you could pick anyone who do you guys think would fit best? |

0% chance any of those happen... pure goal scoring perspective it's gotta be Stone though. Other 2 are untouchables so no point speculating them |

Not sure that Brodie value is very high right now except that he has decent term on his contract which is always appealing.
I wrote off a Hamilton trade as well until I had a thought, curious what everyone else thinks. Could a deal be made with Edmonton for their 1st round pick + for Dougie Hamilton? Edmonton 1st round pick should be high enough to be able to land Brady Tkachuk. Could you imagine those brothers on the same team? Would probably take moving someone like Hamilton to get it done. Again, I'm really not sold on trading Hamilton but this is a scenario that I might be okay with. |

Francis is a tool trying to start conspiracy's
How many times does Burke have to say Dougie isnt getting traded.
Brodie is 27 and is soft and built for the east, Hamiltons 24 and hasnt hit his prime yet and is rare 6'6 RHD who puts up points.
This shouldn't even be a conversation. |

If you trading him to Edmonton your getting Draistl in return or your not trading him to your biggest rivalry. |

I am in agreement with the notion that trading Dougie Hamilton is a non-starter. That said, I am not so sure that he is as "great" as everyone seems to believe. I think we can all say that TJ Brodie when paired with Gio was a rising star and we all talked about how the two of them were considered one of the best pairings in the league. Now it's Gio and Dougie. Is this a coincidence or is it that Gio elevates his partner's game. Don't get me wrong, Dougie has skill. He has size, skating ability, can shoot the puck... If you take away Gio it makes me wonder where Dougie is at with a different partner. Is he still an elite player? Does his game slide the way Brodie's has?
Perhaps we'll find out next season...
I am fine with trading Brodie. We have a logjam on defence and our prospects need an opportunity. It would be ideal if we could move out Stone, but I don't see us getting much in return for him. |

IMO, Brodie's problems started with GG (Bennett too).
If you are going to dump GG, then you don't trade Brodie.
Trading Hamilton shouldn't even be a topic of conversation. |

Not with that contract thanks. Less than a point per game, 8.5 Million for 8 years is too steep in my opinion. |

We were talking Hamilton. I had suggested a package that included Edmonton's first for Hamilton in order to draft Brady Tkachuk might be a starter on Hamilton and the reply was Drai for Hamilton. Try to keep up. |

Maybe in the right ballpark for Matthews haha. How about a Brodie and Bennett instead? |

If the Flames want a proven impact forward they'll have to trade Hamilton or overpay in free agency. Brodie's not going to get that kind of return. Best case scenario for a Brodie trade would be to get a bunch of picks like they gave up for Hamonic or a stud forward prospect. If you don't count Bennett as a prospect, the Flames have zero forward prospects to get excited about.
Then again, Chiarelli is still employed. Brodie for RNH could happen. |

Not sure what kind of return you can expect from Brodie with his "down" year
At this point, we couldn't even get back what we paid to the Isles for Hamonic |

Go out and try and get 1) Max Domi or 2) Josh Ho Sang.
Max has had 2 bad years after he was lights out as a rookie, Ho Sang clearly wants off the Island and might come cheep. Ho Sang is a RW / Right hand shot something we dont have in Calgary or Stockton.
The only way Hamilton is getting moved is if he's the problem in the room. He seemed like he was down after we sent Freddie to the A and he went to PHX. I could see him being a bit of a problem in the dressing room and he seems.... kind of like a big man child. If you traded him away i would expect a top 5 pick and a NHL ready RW. |

This is dumb. Every time you see Dougie, he's photo bombing, or posing with teammates doing charitable work. This stupid idea that he's a problem started in Boston because they needed an excuse to justify the trade. There is absolutely no evidence to support this claim.
Trading Hamilton is a bad idea, especially to Edmonton for a chance to pick Brady. Brodie is probably the most expendable, but won't get a top rw on his own.
Francis is a moron, and nothing he says should be taken seriously. |

If Brods is to get traded - is it really that crazy to get back a player and 1st?
Look at what Tampa gave up for McDonagh... Don't think there's a huge difference between the two when they're on their game.
Then again that was the TDL where overpayments happen |
