A chance to dump on Sutter and Reaves in the same article? This was Christmas in July for the all-knowing RW. |

Evander Kane is gonna have a career year now that he's not on a dumpster fire for the first time in his career. |

Since you completely whiffed on the Calgary Flames, I'll pick for you.
Troy Brouwer is a real jerk and should only be used for faceoffs in OT. |

Calgary? Nothing? Brouwer likely? |

Yeah I dont think he's overrated at all and is a great hockey player but 7 mill might be a bit too much...we shall see. He's never had more than 57 points and only hit the 30 goal mark once. He is a pretty injury prone guy, that would be my main concern. Last year was the most games he ever played in a season at 77. If healthy hes pretty much a guaranteed 20/25 goal guy...and that was on dumpster fires...
For price/production comparative purposes JVR coming off a 36 goal/54 point season and has a 7 mill cap hit next season.
Kessel had 92 points last year for 6.8 mill cap hit. |

According to Garth Kane is the most underrated player in the league.
The truth probably lies somewhere in the middle. He is a good, physical forward and generally speaking a positive asset on many teams but SJ definitely overpaid for him, especially in terms of length of contract. |

This part is garbage. His primary Center the last 5 seasons was Eichel or Schiefele.
He is a good high volume shooter that struggles to stay healthy.

Except the article is “most overrated”. Brouwer isn’t overrated, he’s just bad. |

Truth Kane is a Chris Kunitz type. Nothing less nothing more. He shouldn't be paid $7M at all. I believe he's a $5.5M player at best. |

Skinner is probably the closest comparison to Kane in terms of scoring and shot rates. |

Agreed on these except I think most agree Goligoski is past his prime and Reaves is just bad at hockey. |

So they were only playing 2 on 2 hockey?
Pretty much every team he's been on has been a bottom dweller/non playoff team until the Sharks, thats what I mean and Im assuming Vic meant as well. The only year a team he was on (besides last year) made the playoffs was the 2014/2015 Jets and he didnt play a single game due to injury haha.
If he can manage to stay healthy enough for 70+ games this year he will have a career year. Book it. |

I think the only two players on that list you can make the argument for are Kane and Larsson. All of the other players aren't highly thought of and are closer to being underrated because they might not be as terrible as everyone thinks.
No one thinks Reaves, Lucic, Russell and Sutter are better than decent. Hard to be overrated as a decent player. |

I’m interested on the rationale for Hampus - he and Josh to me at least are very formidable pairing ... overrated if anything he’s underrated.

I could see it, but that's a lot to commit to a guy who might have a career year. He's making the same as Vlasic. I dunno, I think it was dumb. Should have been able to get him for less with that term, or less term for that money. He hasn't proven very much at all yet. |

Well a lot of those players aren't even decent. Do you remember Brandon Sutter on this team? He might be my least favorite Penguin of all time. What a (frank)ing chump. People thought Sheary was soft. Sutter was softer and didn't even produce well. |

Ok...but he also plays with a physical edge like Kunitz, or Kunitz used to. The kind that opens up space and creates opportunities for teammates while also wearing the other team down. |
