"As I reflect back on the Salt Lake incident, I know what I did wasn't smart or professional. But it wasn't all bad either because hockey is show business."

I think this gets overlooked far too often in today's game. The coaches forget they're there for our entertainment, and coach all the fun out of the game in the almighty pursuit of wins; they don't care if they win 1-0 or 2-1. GMs are the same way when discussing rule changes that might help increase scoring. They say they want to preserve the tradition of the game, yet they're constantly Richarding with all aspects of it. The trapezoid, eliminating the red line, challenges, the instigator rule, calling more holding, slashing, and hooking penalties, shootouts, hell, even overtime itself in the regular season and then changing the length and amount of skaters... But God forbid we might see 7 or, perish the thought, 8 goals a night would somehow cause Sid Abel to rollover in his grave. The NBA gets it, lacrosse gets it, the NFL does to an extent too with all the pro-offense rules now.
